Sounds more like a stupid clerk more than anything else. Why in God's name would any salesperson suggest that a person can't afford something prior to even showing it? That's just plain asinine salesmanship. You worry if they can afford it AFTER they commit to purchasing it. I would be offended as well and actually have been approached with that mentality before. I just laughed at the car salesman and walked away. Came back two days later to show him the new van that HE didn't sell me. I user to work with a guy who would use the same paper bag for his lunch everyday, whose shirts so old and worn they were practically invisible and he ate shit like Top Ramen a lot. He had a net worth of about $3 million dollars. So you never know by appearances who/what a person is. Concerning the dipstick who for whatever reason brought up Bill Gates and Microsoft. You know Gates hasn't had anything to do with the operation of Microsoft for many years now, so whatever insinuation you were attempting is lame. Death already provided the reason for so many virus's that attack MS products. $38K for a purse? Yeah that's excessive, but as Heather pointed out, how many of us give away over 25% of our income a year???? I'm not a big Oprah fan, but I do respect her and admire her for her philanthropic work. Even though it was gimmicky, on her Christmas shows when she would give away tons of shit, she paid for it all out of her own pocket, not the studio, even the time she gave everyone in the audience a new car. Same with Bill and Melinda gates, Warren Buffet and a couple of others who have made philanthropic interests their main focus of their wealth. These people possess fame, wealth and can get the ear of government officials and have been using that access to try and affect positive changes in the world. All I'm hearing in this thread is a bunch of jealousy and sour grapes. Remember the majority of wealthy and famous people keep their philanthropic ventures quite. We hear a little of what these folks do simply due to the enormity of their fame. You also have billionaire assholes who flaunt the "good" they do. Oprah and the Gates really don't flaunt their charitable work, they are just so much more in the public radar.
THIS post...combined with your other one really gives validity to the claim of you often trolling :troll: just sayin...
I don't really understand how racism plays into this at all. Oprah is being a bitch because someone didn't know who she is or how rich she is and it hurt her feelings. That is all.
Anyways, all I'm gonna say on this topic is...Oprah annoys me but I don't care how she spends her money and who knows if the fucking clerk was racist or not and who cares? I do think this is all a ratings ploy for Queen Oprah. But again, who gives a shit.
Are those names really any less fucked up than…. Phoenix Savannah Brooklyn Trinity Cadence Skyler Destiny Sasha Reese Hotwater
No one really knows what transpired between the store clerk and Oprah but having followed her career over the last 30 years there’s no reason to doubt her sincerity Hotwater
@QueerPoet Why are you mad that someone can afford a purse that cost $38,000. It's her money and she is allowed to do anything with it. I personally won't spend that much money on a purse , but that is what she wanted to buy. And it has to do with race, the lady just looked at her and automatically and thought that she couldn't afford it
I wonder what the average price per item is, because they probably cater to the uber-wealthy. There's an antique store near Santa Barbara and the cheapest thing I could find was a 7 inch stick figure that was selling for $1000. I'd say the average price per item there was about $15000 and there was no shortage or business.
Its a store owned by two tv producers, one them was the producer of That 70s show. The local clientele typically come from "old money", meaning they were born rich and their families have been rich for many generations. So to them spending $15000 on and old slot machine from the 1930s is like me spending $15 at the supermarket.
Yes, they are to me. They're outright ridiculous. Not that I would name my kid a stripper/pornstar name either.
