Does anyone think it's wrong to have a nice phone? My dad works for motorola, and i get tons of free phones. Really nice ones too, even phones they decided to stop making. Well, I'm ashamed like, because I don't really like people with cellular phones, but i have one. All the kids are like, "Thats a nice phone man! How much did this thing cost?" and all i can say is, "I don't know, I get them fo free, and have about ten of them." So is it Un-Hip to have a cellular phone? If it helps, I never set the clock to the right time, so I never know what time it is.

If a thirteen year old can comprehend this why can't you 16 year olds get over the whole 'how to be hip' 'how to be a hippie' issue, BE YOURSELF, it is really sad that every other thread in this forum is concerning what it takes to be hip enough or asking advice or throwing judgements out at people who are not conforming enough to a lifestyle that is not about conforming, PLEASE get over it!

    Geeze.

Do whatever you want! I have a cellphone, but I only use it for emergencies, or when I need to get ahold of my parents for one reason or another. It's nifty to have around in those types of situations.

I personally do not like cell phones, those free little nokia ones are alright though.
my aunt got me one of those speakerphone ones and it pissed me off, it was always ringing and going "BEEP-BEEP" at innappropiate times it was far too loud, when talking it would cut itself off and just go "SCREEEEEE", damn thing was evil i tell ya. and i swear the sumofabitch was laughing at me behind my back!.

I've had three in the last two weeks... I just got a new on in December, but last week my son threw it on the cement floor at the grocery store and it quit working. I took it to the repair people and they couldn't fix it, so they gave me a rebuilt one for $75. It worked great for a few days, then the display quit working. The light would come on, but there were no words or anything. I took it in and they fixed it, then an hour later it started happening again. So I took it back in and they gave me another phone.

The second time, they were able to transfer my phone book to the new phone, but they weren't the first time. So now I've lost a lot of numbers... blah. I usually write them down, but I hadn't really had the first one long enough... oh, well.... at least I have one.

I've gotten to where I don't really feel safe without one... I'm always "what if-ing" and coming up with all these worst- case scenarios....so I have to have it with me at all times, just in case. :)

    What's wrong with them?

They're useful for texts, that's what I use my phone for most of the time, anyway.

Yes, they're useful for many things, even though I don't use it lots.

    Love,
    Borut

I don’t really like cell phones, sometimes it’s nice to just be unreachable.

    My thought exactly :D

There must be a wisdom blip around that age.

Anyway cell phones... Useful to communicate I suppose, but otherwise pointless. Mine is hardly ever switched on.

You could always give the spare ones away. That would be charitable (hip?)
