I used to play this RPG called Knights Online when I was in high school. It was free and I tell ya it was pretty damn fun. I would play it for hours and hours on end haha
yeah... Runescape was cool in 8th grade. It's coolness has since expired. (though I did have a lvl 90 something. my Name was badbj, but I created the account before bj was censored by the site. So, whenever anyone typed my name it just said "bad**")
I used to play wow. it's basically hipchat but with more 4chan memes and you kill things. It's EXTREMELY REPETITIVE. that being said i loved almost every second of it and i even miss it but not going back.
qft... that's basically what made me end my WOW addiction.. and that i'd rather spend that $30 on weed
The thing about wow is if it's your first game of that type, you're going to spend a LOOOONG time before you properly understand the game. The trial is enough to start a hardcore addiction, but you'll have at LEAST one max lvl for quite some time before you're any better than shit at the game, just because there's a lot of things that someone hasto tell you before you know them, again, unless you've seen them in a similar game. They've been trying to ez-mode these things all away, but it's still that way. I think wow is a great game, but wrath of the lich king sucks dick. Cataclysm is SUPPOSTED to be a complete rebirth. I don't know if the free server community was ever shut down, but there used to be a lot, I played private servers for years before playing retail, that's what we all did when we where broke freshmen and wanted to be cool and play wow. BUT don't play a "funserver", because it's no fun, destroys the game and every point that it might have, and will only teach you impatience, not the mechanics of the game. So yes: wow is a great game, at least classic and TBC where, and now is a good time to get some toons ready for cataclysm. But keep in mind, when you get that free trial, it's like when that guy in the trench coat is like "hey, this brown stuff will make you feel good..... first ones free"
On a relevant note, if you're the free software type, last night I installed WINE on my mostly stock ubuntu 10 installation, and WoW ran with a minimum of tweaking, I used the ubuntu wiki page you get if you google wow on ubuntu (or something like that, not hard to find) which involved installing a lib or something for further 3d performance, installing wine and running winecfg, copying my wow folder over from my 'doze drive, setting it to force openGL mode, and thats about it.... it's pretty easy, as far as *nix goes, and it actully has less hardware lag in some places, though a generally worse framerate I think (if you just force openGL in 'doze, it COULD help the fps anyway, dunno, never tried it) ....If that's your thing.... just saying.
Id say dont waste your time on it. MMORPG's are okay but not worth the fee they want when there are so many others out there that you dont pay for.
Like Perfect World http://www.perfectworld.com/ try that before you pay for something you may not even enjoy that much.
