it is quite a good movie! it flop big time at the box office though; i think it made under $ 1,000,00 (u.s.a. funds), during it's first run, and almost all the critics hated it too.
i loved it though! the book is better though. i read the book before i saw the movie; when i do that, it almost always ruin the movie version of the book.
i have no doubt at all, that it will become one of the all time great cult classics!

never read the book, (*didnt even know there WAS one) but eh, i dont think its going to end up a great cult classic. most ppl havent even heard of it. and it wasnt very good in my opinion, of course movies depend on the person when it comes to taste. it was mostly disturbing to me. i give it two thumbs enthusiastically down. but as i say, thats just my opinion,.

basically, this girl is left at this old house by herself, with her friends who are doll heads that she makes talk with her fingers

and meets the neighbors.. and befriends this guy..

and theres some human taxidermy and some pretty sick scenes.

huh... everything seemed ok to me until then... is David Lynch implicated somewhere in the making of this movie? It would explain a huge part of the weirdness and also the great photography I see in the pictures above.

Her father died of an overdose on heroin and she prepared it for him. If this were a true story this little girl would be fucked up for life.

KatieMarrie : there's no doubt about it!

I just made a little research and discovered that Terry Gilliam, the genius director of Brazil, is responsible for Tideland.

    I'm sure I'd love it!

Gilliam says about his movie: "In Tideland, Alice in Wonderland meets Psycho"

    Must be interesting!

if you loved tideland, you might also like:
    1. un chien andalou.
    2. eraserhead.
    3.visions of suffering.
    4.visitor q.

just like tideland, all four of these movies are in what is called the bizarrist/surreal sphere, but, watch out! if you start liking the bizarrist/surreal stuff like i do, people will start calling you "sick" and "weird" like they do me.
