...on paper at least: It might be interesting to test these in winter conditions. I only lament their disposable nature. 1-time use only? Not very eco friendly.
Why should someone stick this on? You still look barefoot, so it's no solution for "no-bare-feet-areas". And the protective effect is minimal or even zero. The examples in the video where the promo-girl walks with this stick-on-soles are all grounds you can walk on bare paws anyway, without any problems. And i also guess the sticked on sole does hinder the natural movement of the foot. Things the world doesn't need ...
yeah this seems entirely pointless to me. and having sticky stuff on my skin never appeals to me. i wonder if your feet stay sticky after you take them off?
All you need to do is put tape on the front of the foot and rough areas like gravel are no problem. Try it. The part of the foot circled in black is the only part that really needs protection if your hiking over surfaces your feet are not accustomed too. People won't start using tape, but they will buy something official for the purpose and I think this company would do very well also marketing a product just for that front part of the foot.
i suppose just covering that part (and also the heel really, any weight bearing part of the foot can hurt on rough surfaces if it's not used to it) would be good enough for the average step. but the really painful barefooting moments come when something sharp pokes up into the arch of your foot, since it is still uncalloused and tender. if you're going to tape an artificial callous to the bottom of your foot anyway, you might as well just do the whole surface.
It just doesn't look right it needs be shaped more like a footprint. Even if they put the dots in the shape of a footprint these things would be more appealing. The footprint shape is sexy, maybe much more more so to some then to others but the number one thing in marketing anything is sexy. They won't sell as many of these "stick on shoes" if they look like hospital sox on the bottom.
Theyd last more than one day if you dont take a shower. Thus most barefooters could get a week out of them
I wonder if these would work against the shoe police. If you are hassled for being barefoot, just show them your soles, the bottom of the foot is covered. End of story.

Can they also be used if you are menstruating? Are they absorbant? Double up, kill two birds with one stone as it were
