Well you could start with that (rather than evade answering, as you are doing).

The idea that there is a ‘main’ problem would seem to indicate that there is ‘lesser’ problems when the thing is that the whole right wing libertarian ideology is the problem, in that it is an ideology. Everything about it is interlinked so that when any aspect is actually looked at in detail it is found to be negative because of the whole.

The problem is that right wing libertarians push the theory and dismiss the reality. For example the theory is that the ‘competition’ of a ‘pure free market’ would undermine established wealth’s power and influence. The problem is that the move toward this supposed ‘pure’ market only gives more power to wealth. This is the lesson of the last thirty odd years of the ‘neoliberal’ push for a more ‘free market’ society.

As yomama points out in answer to your statement
She like many here (including me) think the problem is that wealth already has too much power and influence.

There is no silver bullet to stop the vested interests of wealth and the fantasy that a ‘pure market’ is that bullet is only going to make things worse.

    Give and Buddha

Why give him support – given all the outstanding criticisms of right wing libertarian views that no Paulet has yet addressed (let alone refuted)?

I'd love him to win the nomination. Primarily because he has absolutely no chance of beating Obama. The GOP would be fools to give the nomination to him.

He really has no place in the current Republican Party.

There has been no Republican party for decades now. Goal #15 nearly totally accomplished, and Ron Paul and a very few others are but what remains.

Why would you want to make the US a worse place to live for most Americans?

Balbus, I'm curious what are these "outstanding criticisms of right wing libertarian views".

LOL have you not been reading the threads in politics, if not give it a go.

But as I’ve already pointed out the problem is that right wing political ideas (as far as I can tell all of them) don’t stand up well (or at all) to scrutiny.

Balbus is right. All you have to do is read this thread to see how poorly the libertarians are defending their positions.

Fair enough I didn't go through the whole 29 pages, my apologies. I was just curious to see what Balbus criticisms of Ron Paul and his viewpoints were. And I don't see why libertarians are obligated to "defend" their positions or anyone else of a different political ideology for that matter. You have whatever viewpoints and opinions about governmental policies you have and think are best for your country. To each his own. And not all libertarians are "far right wing" whatever that even means. There are a lot of schools of thought in Libertarianism.

A forum is a forum. I think less of Libertarianism if its supporters cannot defend its positions in a logical way.

Yea i don't feel like reading all that shit either. Was deregulation mentioned? I would vote for RP but his stances on deregulation are downright scary. It seems to me that he would want to deregulate the market as much as possible, which would effectively throw us to the goddamn wolves.

He is against monopolies running the market which is what we have now. I think the government should referee for the market nothing more. Why be dependent on the government? I would rather be free to take care of myself.
