Would you loot?

If a.. 48 hour riot/demonstration ocurred in your nearest city center would you be tempted to loot the now, smashed up, security-less shops?

I havent stolen anything before.. but i'd probably loot in that circumstance

maybe if i needed something like food or water. during hurricane katrina a lot of blacks were stealing flat screened tv's and things of that nature. what would be the point of stealing something like that when there's not even any electricity to power it with? besides, it only fed into the stereotype that blacks are savage beasts that like to riot and loot because of their compulsive and criminal urges.

 

While I think it a despicable act, I'd probably steal some flat screen LCD's and laptops myself. Then I'd blame it on the overwhelming pull of the mob mentality.

 

Whether you meant that to sound racist or not.. it did. You've got to realise that its not the colour of skin that means more black people were looting (or commit crimes)... it just so happens that people in poverty are more often than not black.. and it is the lifestyle that goes with being poor in America that leads to crime.. not the colour of a persons skin..

Also.. they weren't without power forever.. so obviously the Tv's weren't useless.

 

It depends on weather it's a small, family owned business or a huge, corporate chain. I wouldn't have any guilty feelings about fucking over wal-mart.

 

I agree, even though I mildly chuckled when I first saw that famous "Looty" picture that was circulating for a bit.

And yes, looters are shot about everywhere. It's not a fun free for all.

 

Yeh but shot? I'd expect it more in America.. with the death penalty n all but it'd be odd for the UK to do it.. what hapened to arrest n trial?

 

Civility tends to fly out the window during a crisis. Which is why looting happens in the first place.

 

I wouldn't loot. Karma would get it back

Its real nice that Missouri passed the law to let people shoot people for stealing property now. Take a TV and get your ass capped!
