My boyfriend and I are buying promise rings for each other. I'm not sure what style to get him since he doesn't really wear rings but he liked the idea of wearing a promise ring. We've been together for almost a year and a half I want to get him something that doesn't look like a wedding band lol He doesn't really have any input besides the fact he likes thick bands over thin ones. So, I need help. Stones or no stones? Should I get one with a design? Silver, gold, or steel? I think it should be something pretty casual looking. Does this whole idea sound silly?
You know your man better than we do. Go shopping and when you find the right ring you will know it is just the ring for him. Good Luck!
Haha that's funny. We actually decided to shop online together, to make sure we both liked them since we'll be wearing them for a while. I got him a Tungsten carbide ring that was black, and he got me one that was silver. I liked the idea of using Tungsten because it's one of the strongest materials ever, just a bit softer than actual diamond. It signifies strength. My boyfriend also got a whole lot more excited about it when he saw a guy at work with a promise ring, someone had asked if he was married. It made him smile and he wanted it more than before :2thumbsup: I wouldn't mind being mistaken for his wife lol not one bit.
Congratulations I was going to say Tungsten too...I DJ weddings and have seen those types of rings and really liked them a lot! I just love the idea of how strong they are too!
The only thing that bugs me is, that he's so excited about this ring exchange, and happy even about being mistaken for my husband, but he is dead set on living together before being engaged to me. I guess I should leave well enough alone, but I just don't understand how he can be so sure but not want to do the one thing that says "I want to be with you forever" verbatim.
how is this a problem? he loves you and wants to stay with you, yet is not an idiot who makes huge life decisions without doing the proper research. sounds pretty ideal.
I love my tungsten wedding band. Still not a mark on it after 6 months However, I've never heard of a dude wearing a promise ring, or even an engagement ring. It almost seems the same as him taking your last name.
Thats just asking for trouble That its made of Tungsten makes the concept a whole lot more manly than it is
Yes. Boyfriends and girlfriends doing silly things for each other is one of the charms of dating and all that stuff. (Its cute  )
Well, I don't think it's weird. There are guys who do this, and I only mentioned it casually once. He actually really wanted to do it so I think it's sweet. And I will be taking his name when we get married, lol and it's nothing like that at all. I mean until holy matrimony the guy shows no outward sign of "I'm taken", so I think it's pretty cool a guy would be so committed he would want to show the world that he's promised to someone. See? Mike gets it. Thanks, dear I love being silly with my man. How so? Mine isn't a thick manly-looking band. The point of using Tungsten is to signify the strength of our bond. Jeez, I'm being so sentimental today. lol
Edward? Jacob? What are you talking about? I don't see him having a ring as emasculating or anything. He's no girly-man :2thumbsup:
