The United States has positioned troops with hundreds of tanks next to the Russian border with Ukraine and with Poland. Poland put out a public statement two days ago indicating that their country will not be a "Buffer Zone" in a war, meaning they will attack Russia. An American general has told congress that the military needs a 50% increase in the drone fleet, because of Russian aggression. Georgia has also warned Russia about territorial violations. North and South Korea have exchanged fire. Israel and Syria have exchanged fire. Turkey has attaked Kurds in Syria and in Iraq. And the Kurds have attacked the Turkish forces. This is not looking good, people.
you're probably right. World politics have been pretty fucking unstable and tense for a few years now. More so than usual, I mean.
It's very interesting, objectively speaking, that humans continue to act like 3rd graders in a schoolyard pushing, shoving and scratching to get advantages over others. Much more horrifying subjectively, of course, but I would think that becoming civilized, caring, empathetic caretakers over our fellow humans could be achieved somehow. It just seems really stupid and short-sighted to continue on as we do, as top dogs on earth. 'Those who presently rule' cannot seem to see that there could/should be another way to live on our little home in the universe. More than likely they don't give a shit because of massive amounts of hubris. Peace--real PERMANENT PEACE is not in the cards, I suppose. Shame, that. Murphys Law is all but guaranteed in this deal. As usual.
I vote that we send the real and true hero's to the front lines right away. We can't allow the real hero's which is law enforcement officials to sit idly by and not save us from doom!
I've been hearing this stuff since I can remember and I was born in 1951. Same old same old. Que Sera, Sera https://youtu.be/azxoVRTwlNg
I hope the mofo's realize I'm not going to fight in WWIII. You'll be able to tell we're getting closer to it if they start ramping up the propaganda about how the "enemy" is evil.
The absolute worst possibility that a lot of Americans need to consider is being drafted into this kind of shit. I realize there hasn't been an official draft in a very long time. But consider how the conflicts in the middle east have been so badly managed. The US is deploying sailors to desert conflict zones because recruitment is at an all time low. And once deployed, military people are discovering that there is no limit to how many times they can be deployed. In some cases the only way to get away is to reenlist. I know that sounds weird but it happens. Since everybody is automatically registered for Selective Service, you are assumed to be "available" until you can prove otherwise. And that opportunity won't come until you are actually called up. Also, if you're already a veteran you know you can be pulled back in, even if you're old. Doctors and nurses can be pressed into the military with a signature. And God help you if you have some sort of specialized skill that can be easily militarized, like working in a power station or a chemical plant. It seems like all the assholes around the world are itching for a fight. I seriously doubt we'll see a world war. Modern technology makes nations who used to get raped for resources a lot better able to defend them, so it would cost a fortune. And of course any sort of nuclear conflict would seriously suck. If an actual war does break out, and I don't mean these lopsided "victories" like Libya and Iraq, things will change very dramatically in the US.
North and South Korea are always fighting with each other. My buddy stopped in a Chinese... err Asian restaurant while he was in Chicago and they had nothing but communist propaganda and pictures of Kim Jong Ill on their walls. Crazy how such an influence a government like that has on people. Why can't we just have mudwrestling matches to see who wins?
The Korean skirmishes are mostly due to climate change and the 2015 heat wave which has caused droughts and mass-starvation in the North. The North has zero allies and they can't just ask for help, so they start shooting to call attention to themselves and make Kim Jong Un look like he can bring the US to its knees. It's about feeding his officers' families-- that's all.
World wars are a relic. The bankers and all the players who get rich from misery, the war profiteers (too lazy to list them all) would never allow it. There is too much money to be made from the never-ending regional conflicts. Halliburton stole/lost what 9 billion in the first days of the Iraq war? And that isn't even talking about what they eventually made in government contracts. That's just ONE corporation involved in war mongering for the corporate bottom line, but it's a good example. Regional wars are easy money. People are convinced to look the other way with a minimum of effort. The world economy isn't challenged as much as a world-wide conflict would bring.
Even if a conflict with Russia would escalate into something like a war it would still not be a world war indeed. But this is all merely intimidation. Power display. Safety measure at most. Neither Russia or the USA want to wage war against eachother now. Russia and western Europe will only hurt each other through economical sanctions. By the way, there have been western european and NATO soldiers on east european borders next to Russia for longer. Last but not least, Poland would not dare to attack Russia first. That's pretty much hilarious. They're overly defensive because they're scared of being in the middle of it again.
Isn't there something romantic about living in times of war? When it becomes good vs. evil, then the best in you is exposed every day. Wars are like holidays.
When I think of world war, I think a war theater that includes the geography of the entire globe. And in this sort of conflict Russia has the ability to use the entire globe.
Funny how these multi-national corporations are always unaccountable. Oh, what am I saying? It is not funny at all!
