Nice touch with/for Vorm So now, it's "Luis -Welcome to Manchester" (Well he did say "Holidays? - Holidays are for wimps) = lol
well, the 3rd place is usually worth a little more than the runner-up, as weird as it is. at least the third place is won by actually winning a game. runners-up get their medal by losing a game. can't imagine it's a positive experience getting that silver that is always tied to the painful experience of losing such an important game... van Gaal played a genius quarter-final, Tim Krul is a star. but the semi against Argentina, Cillessen tried a copy-and-paste of Krul's tactics without being the kind of person to pull it off. and it's always a mistake to get on penalties. not saying the Dutch played bad, because they didn't, but they might have been too confident about the penalties where there's never a reason for it. i'm glad my side won the tournament. Joachim Löw got his long overdue trophy. i never understood why some people kept complaining that he didn't have one when during his management his team always came up among the top 4 in the World Cup and the UEFA. he's the best football coach in the world, and it showed already long before he ever won the World Cup. he's injected so much beauty and elegance into the game, it's amazing.
yea, i agree about third place being better then second. Also, did you happen to see messi get his player of the tournament trophy, (golden boot trophy) he looked DEVESTATED as he got it. Like he wanted to die
yeah. and frankly, i didn't quite get it how he was the best player in the game. if we don't count the Germans, there were some other Argentinian players who were better than Messi. and no, Messi did not receive the Golden Boot award. that award goes to the top scorer of the tournament, who was James Rodrigues (Colombia) with 6 goals (Messi only had 4). Thomas Müller got the silver boot with 5 goals, and Neymar got the bronze with 4. what Messi received was the Golden Ball award, which goes to the best player. and that award is determined by votings of media representatives. so, there's really no technical skills backing up that award. it just means that player was most liked by those voters, and i think Messi got a sympathy vote here. they just felt sorry for him. because, in this tournament there were other players that were much better. Messi is a good player, but he didn't pull off anything extraordinary at all.
