Got no goddamn time for anything anymore, shit! I miss coming here... Had an interview for a better position on Friday, so hopefully will be furthering my career or whatever, but all I can think is that I need a damn vacation. I hate to complain about this because of all the people that are unemployed, but... I am so tired. And barely breaking even. This should have gone in the Whiners forum. Fuck it. I'll make it into a discussion. Anyone else fed up?? Not that there's anything we can do about it... Or is there?
I guess you could find a more enjoyable job where your outside interests are apart of the job and you kill two birds with one stone? But it probably isn't that easy. Instance, I love horses, so I work in a stable when I can. =]
I've gotten pretty defeated from working recently as well. I took as much of a break as I could and did the bare minimum, as last minute as possible and just focused deeply on my personal well-being. Tried to figure out what I want my work-life to be like. I'm somewhat past that and really glad I took that break, but I'm still working on a redefining my work life. Good luck with your interview.
I know the feeling of lost time after work. Recently I've been trying to go to bed a lot later just to compensate a 10hr day. I tend to get a sore back if I over sleep so the 5-6 sleep cycles are fine for me and they're kind of working.. I guess. I do have a fair amount of downtime at the moment with my job role so that's good, but when you're on call and can't do much but sit in a van all day in a car park waiting for something to do it just doesn't make up for getting home when it's turning dark and then dinner and then it's like 9pm.
Ofcourse there is something you can do about it. I haven't had a proper job for many years and I still managed to travel the world for years. And no, my parents did not sponsor me. It depends what you want in life. If you care about getting a bigger car and a bigger house, the latest bigscreen tv and stylish furniture, you probably gotta have a regular job to pay for all that. If you choose to do something else in life, there are plenty of other options.
working does suck, if you have a sucky job. i enjoy it most of the time, although i do wish i had more time to focus on other interests.
Bird, if you don't mind me asking what do you do for money? I understand if you're private about it but I am curious. I would love to get out of the 40 hr a week rat race. I'm going to school for something that will allow me to work from home and make my own schedule when I graduate, but ive got a couple more years of a shitty job to contend with before this happens. I think the trick to dealing with a job you're not crazy about is to put it all behind you when you're not at work. Make the most of your nights and weekends and don't think about work when you're not there.
Working does suck and I get sick of it but I can't complain very much. I have a physically demanding job but I earn decent money. I mostly enjoy it and I own the business. I can hire someone to do my job any time I want but that would cost me money that I don't need to spend right now. So working usually sucks for almost all of us but at least I have the freedom to decide when I will do it and what I will be paid. That counts for something.
Basically just looking for opportunities, they always come at some point, but you gotta see them for what they are and not be affraid to take a risk. For example, I used to play poker, which made me some nice money. Also been invested in bitcoin and daytrading. There's money to be made everywhere, whatever your likings are and if you don't mind living cheap and easy you don't need much anyway.
I don't really enjoy work I suppose but it pays the bills, keeps me afloat and unless I win the lottery that won't change. Best keep your head down working and complain if you lose your job and income.
I never hated my work because I was able to get into either something I liked or something very new to me and like it and I always made good money. I do like working for my self tho but have done both and sometimes it's better to work for someone else and let them hold onto the headaches. Right now I am doing what I want to for the rest of my working life after doing many different types of jobs. What I do not want to do anymore is a heavy physical job, been there done it and they paid me well but they never gave me a freakin Tshirt for it. What I really did hate was being in-between jobs, even tho it was always a short period of time, it freaked me out to spend any of my last paycheck after a job ended in fear of not finding another soon.
We CAN win the lottery. There's a chance of one in a million Preach it homie! Unfortunately I don't live so cheap that I save a lot of money for travelling but that's my choice. I also only work when it suits me (or when other people really need me) so I don't feel like complaining about my work. I both started and finished my work week today :2thumbsup: I understand I am lucky that I have workplace that is often available when I want to and doesn't have a problem when I choose not to be
Drive cheese around (duh I'm from the netherlands ), to markets, supermarkets and cheese stores. Also have the occasional greengrocery and butcher shop on the route!
