For those who have been following my progress, I finally passed the last part of my minimum skills. I'm am official WFTDA skater now! The 27 laps in 5 minutes was the last thing I had to pass. I've tried it hundreds of times, but I was always stuck in the 5:25-5:45 window. Last night at practice, I was at 5:36. After that, I got super pissed about it, and said I wanted to do it again (which is nearly impossible to do twice in a row because of muscle fatigue). One of my girls skated the inside of the track, and screamed at me the entire second try, and I made it in EXACTLY 5 minutes. I literally only had .13 seconds to spare. For those of you who aren't familiar with derby, being a WFTDA skater is like going from semi-pro to pro. Except we don't get paid. Anyway, I wanted to share. arty:
Thanks guys! I should also mention this means I'll be on the roster for the very first Wyoming Cup Statewide Derby Tournament. It's a pretty big deal for being my first season.
