The man won't let me take off from work, so I can't go to the Rainbow Gathering this year. I hate working for the man, but I need money to pay for school and much needed things. Have fun for me! See you all in 2007 I guess.

Just make sure you're there in spirit sister, and you will be there! When I've not been able to physically be at the gathering, I've at least taken the time to be aware and conscious that it's happening and envisioned being there with my family.

I feel your pain. I want to go so badly, but sadly my parents are insensitive conservative wackos. If only I was old enough to drive.

If you want it bad enough you make it happen has always been the way I try to think. It gets me through things I'd otherwise thought to be impossible..... Jobs are a dime a dozen, its hard, its real hard to leave what society has impounded into you what the right and responsible person must do: Wake up, go to work, pay your bills, repeat. There is a way to live freely and the way you want, for everyone its a little different but for me I must have a home base and teh ability to travel without losing it, a place that no matter what they cannot take it away from me thus the purchase of land (its cheap if you look especialy in NM, AZ and warm in winters) and to build my own house is going to be my choice.... Now this is different than owning and paying for a home which I do, But I owe $70,000 more on it. thats lame if I miss a series of payments all the work I've put into it is gone, they take it away from me.......... So I dunno... Sorry bumble I'm rambling in your thread, but point was IF YOUR HEART TELLS YOU TO DO IT>>>>>>> DO IT! lol...... I hope you make it though, maybe something close to a miracle will happen for ya... And all the rest of you wanting to go so bad... :) :) :)

dude i hear you. I'm on lock down until I get my degree, which is in 2.5 years. After that, I'm moving to NM, HI or CA. I will be a teacher and I will be able to get a job in those states. When I start teaching i'll have the summers off to spend time with family. I just feel like I'm trapped due to the fact that I have to pay for my way through college. I'm not saying that anyone should pay for my way, but I do feel like I got screwed over with financial aid and that college is way overpriced. It's what i want, so i can't complain. I'm going to Gaian Mind on June 22-25 in south western PA and I was told that there will be rainbows present! I will be in spirit at the gathering. I will also send much positive energies to CO.

i know where you're coming from. I was in the same position, and the man wouldn't let me off either. So i will be quitting in about a month, and going to the gathering. then dreamtime, them i will come back maybe and find another job.

Hey. If you're in Philly there should be plenty of other stuff to do this summer. I know they have plenty of pot lucks. Soaring Eagle could probably get you some info if he hasn't left yet. I'm not going to CO this year either. Our daughter is one year old and I don't think she will tolerate the drive from PA. We took her to WV last year, but she was only two moths old and not as set in her ways. The best thing to do is make the most of your summer. If nothing else, get out to the woods to meditate and enjoy mother earth a bit.

i definately feel ya on that one. school is usually good tho. i conform my year to at least being at nationals. ive been working a job i like that let me off for ocala. i told them about a month and a half ago that i needed at least the first week of july off. they said they didnt know. well, it comes down to your priorities in life. even tho it is the best job ive had as far as money goes, spirit is much more important to me. so one way or another i will get to go to my family reunion. come july there is no other place i desire to be every year. i love u all.

I agree with diligaf, it's important to tend to your responsibilities, family will always be there. I didn't make nationals last year cause I decided to teach so I could get the experience under my belt (it was a fairly new job at the time) and now this year I'm able to take the summer off and go. It's a bummer when you're in it, but I promise that once you come out the other side it's alot brighter, you'll be so happy when you're done in school and free to go. I gotta say too, I really respect you for putting yourself through school to become a teacher. It's so amazingly rewarding, good luck to you mama :0)
