I’m afraid to drink from the river In case something pulls me in I’m afraid to go into the river Should I forget how to swim I’m afraid to swim in the river Because something might pull me under I’m afraid to dive in the river In case I can’t come up for air For if I find I can’t resurface I just might not care Then again, I’m afraid not to drink at all For I could die of thirst How long can in wait in wondering Which might kill me first?

Reading between the lines. this poem reads of a person who is frightened of commitment. Frightened of whether he/she is up to the task. Frightened of FAILURE. It's great to write words down like this because it makes you face them in black and white. If this poem is what you are feeling then it is time for you put aside that fear and start living before you regret the life that passed before you even knew it had started. Very heartfelt and poignant write. Kudos !!
