It may be the same as a young man. It happened to me at your age where a young man ejaculates in his sleep whilst having a erotic dream. If your orgasms are accompanied by erotic dreams it may be the same as that. But if it is enjoyable for you when it happens I wouldn,t worry about it too much...x

I have orgasms in my sleep several times a week. I have no idea what it means, except that I wake up a happy lady.

I recently read that a full bladder is essential for an orgasm. As I often have to go pee many times throughout the night, and usually have a very full bladder by the time I wake up in the morning, perhaps having orgasms in my sleep is related to this?

Sometimes that happens to me too. I figured it's because I have to pee while I'm asleep, because I normally wake up needing to pee. I'm not sure why during sleep I associate sex with peeing though because when I'm awake the two experiences are totally different. It's not like I pee when I'm orgasming nor do I feel orgasmic when I need to pee. It's all so stupid. But, whatever.... life goes on. Also, none of this is that important to me.

Though, I will say one thing. When I have these dreams I also move my body in a humping motion. You're probably wondering how do I know I'm moving my body if I'm asleep. I will admit I don't know if I move like this every time I have these dreams, but a few times I have awaken before my body realized I was awake and I saw myself moving like this. It was funny.

I had sex while I was half asleep once. The guy just put me on top of him and went at it. I did climax during that session. Not sure if this has anything to do with anything, but whatever... thought I'll share.

I very full bladder is not essential for orgasm.

    That's nuts.

Jen, I'd say your body is craving a sexual relationship.

Jennifer, Just a thought, as in most dreams it maybe entirely possible that having orgasms in your sleep is not sexual. Are you looking forward to achieving an ultimate goal in you life? Maybe you have been extremely successful at something, hence the feeling of an orgasm? When you mentioned dreaming having orgasms that's what I thought may explain it. Like I say, just a thought.

    On full bladder...
A quick shallow search suggests that a full bladder can intensify orgasms in women.

I'm pretty certain that I had those when I was going through puberty, I used to masturbate a fair bit back then too! But the odd thing is, when I started on HRT about six & a half years ago, I had the most vivid erotic dreams & frequently woke up having an orgasm! Sadly that phase only lasted a few months, but boy was it intense!!

Have you had an orgasm while masturbating?
I guess I don't understand. You say you haven't had sex, so how fo you know what an orgasm is?

Note: not trying yo be argumentative, but trying to understand.

I used to have orgasms in my sleep all the time, but never when having actual sex. I was on medications at the time for anxiety that I'm sure made it difficult to orgasm during sex and had no desire for masturbation. Yet I would have multiple orgasms while sleeping.

Also.. I had them before I even knew what they were and hadn't even had sex yet ( so I didn't know they were orgasms ) now, I am in my 30s and I have orgasms with physical activity and not sleeping. ENJOY it while it lasts! Women that have them usually stop after their 20's.

I read that in a poll a few years back, 80% of women have orgasms in their sleep. It is usually during REM. They didn't do many scientific studies on the reasons why women have them, but they are common for females around the ages of 13- their 20's.
