You mention the honors classes as evidence that men are discriminated against. There are many women who complain that their sex is being subordinated. It sounds like nobody is happy. I take your second paragraph to mean (in part) that people of both genders should focus less on feeling repressed and more on treating others well.
The E.R.A. does not apply even in those states that have ratified. I notice the both North and South Dakota have ratified it. Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming have state ERAs.
