A study was done in 2003 with 202 post menopausal or hysterectomy women who complained of female sexual arousal disorder. Some took Sildenafil or Viagra and others took a placebo. All journaled their sexual experiences and the Viagra users reported better overall sexual satisfaction. The reports indicated the Viagra users had better arousal, lubrication, and orgasms than the placebo users. Each participant engaged in sexual activity at least once a week and kept a personal log. Neither the participants nor the researchers knew which woman was receiving Viagra. Even with this data the use of the drug for women has not been as widespread as it has for men. The reason being most women don't feel losing interest in sex is a problem.
When viagra first came out I had several female patients try it. There wasn't much success and this was supported by subsequent studies.
It will be interesting to hear from any women who has tried viagra or cialis for their experiences. These medications increases the blood flow to genital structures. They have profound effects on male genetalia. It has same effect on female genetalia. But do these medications cause any enhacement in their sexual satisfaction?
It is a fact that ED medication cause increased blood flow to genetalia in men and women. This obviously will cause enhanced clitoral erections and increased blood supply to vaginal wall which in turn will improve lubrication. Whether these effects improve the sexual enjoyment or performance can only be answered by women who seriously experimented with these medications.
