We live in Illinois and just got a good amount of snow, lots of wind, and lots of cold. Roads and businesses had to be closed. It was so bad people died from being out in the cold because EMs couldn't get to them. A lot of people also lost power or got frozen pipes. So far our pipes froze. We had to melt snow on the stove for flushing water and drinking water for our animals. Now something is busted and we have to stay else where. My boyfriend's kids were visiting their mom and had to stay two extra nights because the first two times he tried to go up there he couldn't even get out of town it was so dangerous. Any one else had shitty weather or such? Pictures? Hope everyone is safe and warm!
Just some cold temps here and today people are telling stories of busted pipes because it got above freezing for a while in the afternoon.
Yeah, 3 idiots decided to go duck hunting and well.... WESTPORT — Two men died and another was hospitalized when their boat capsized in rough water Tuesday during a duck hunting outing, casting them into the frigid Westport River, authorities said. Shortly before 8 a.m., a resident who lives along the river saw an overturned boat and notified authorities, prompting an intensive search from the air and on the water. Around 10:30 a.m., the bodies of two men were found washed up on shore, about a half mile from the boat. A half-hour later, a third man from the hunting group, who had made it to a small island in the middle of the river, was rescued by a US Coast Guard helicopter crew. Gregg Angell, 51, of Westport, was treated for hypothermia and is expected to survive. He was listed in fair condition at Rhode Island Hospital. At the time of the rescue, the air temperature was just 8 degrees, with water temperatures of 35 degrees. Authorities did not say if the men were wearing life jackets or had them on board. They said strong winds made the river choppy, conditions challenging for a small boat Hotwater
ha, it was -49 here last night, I am in Canada. We have this kind of weather every winter we also have huge snow storms etc, nothing ever closes though no businesses or roads or anything, thats just regular shit for us... The other night I drove to a meeting in a white out blizzard in -40 temp in a rear wheel drive BMW sliding all over the road. Not ideal but it rarely holds anyone back haha. Saturday its going to be 50 ºF and rain, welcome to Canada lol
Negative temps here but no broken pipes... Keeping it warm enough for that with an incomplete heating system. Power went out for a few hours... That sucked because the land line phone died at the same time. Put another log on the fire... ride it out.
we had like two days of cold weather in peach state, its going back up now, and will apparently hit 60 by the weekend, sucks, i enjoy the cold weather and was hoping for possible snow, but i guess i can kiss that goodbye
Yeah, it warmed up today to in the thirties and rained most of the day. Our meter is broke so at least we don't have to pay for it. Our city is going to start replacing everyone's anyway. The sucky thing is we have to wait over the weekend to even call and find out when it can be fixed. So we'll have been out of our house for a week. We got a nice place to stay and all, but I like my home best. Glad to hear most of you haven't had busted pipes and power wasn't out for long! Stay warm folks!
this is what montreal looked like last christmas: every christmas we get almost half a meter of snow, then it gets icy and slushy and rainy and gross for about a month, and then there is snow again. The christmas snow storms are fucking awesome though. Everything gets totally silent and nobody goes to work or school and everybody takes mushrooms and runs around in the snow. Really unless you're from Canada or Russia, you can't really complain. We spend close to 200 million $ a year on snow removal alone
Did you get that amount this year? I'm north on Toronto and that's what it looks like here, there's nowhere left to throw the snow!
lucky you. It's all ice and crusty rainsnow here Just hoping for another snowstorm to come quick. We got a pretty big snowstorm this year, but last year was 50cm+ which is pretty much a record for Montreal.
Looks like the fog never lifted today... It's 98% humidity and 42f right now. On the way to see my Dad today it was fog on the way down, I was thinking... "eh, not bad, I've seen worse." Coming back around 4:00 this afternoon I was thinking... "This rates right up there with some of the worst I've been in..." Wasn't bad down around where my Dad lives. Last Friday it was -6f or sum shyt.
We were around -30C this week, this weekend we're supposed to go up to plus 3. Shorts weather! We're sure to get flooding. Crazy.
