So I'm taking a week off from work next month, taking a vacation, and want to take my 2 1/2 year old with me. Would be our first time, just the two of us, on any sort of a major trip. Was thinking camping but the only problem is that it's way too cold this time of year in most areas. Anyone have any bright ideas for a getaway, probably on the west coast, and for under say $700?

Maybe rent a cabin? Still camping, but much warmer than a tent. Look into staying at a hostel. Most of them are family friendly, and rates are cheap.
