How do you nudists on here cope with the cold winters. I've heard that if you were to like say wear a beanie or any other sort of hat then that helps to keep the rest of your body warm. Sounds strange yeah?

Well, outdoor nudism is a bit limited in my place, since temperatures can reach below freezing level... but on mornings, when it's a little above 0°C/32F. I do my morning ritual, having a smoke and a coffee skyclad on my balcony. Indoor naturism knows no season boundaries, as I live naked all the time in my apartment...

And then there's places like indoor pools, either having nudist hours, or even wellness places with saunas, steam baths, Thai massage, Ayurveda treatment, Hamam massage, warm salt water pools which are full-time nudist - only asking for people to cover up in the restaurant place... I am planning to visit that place this Easter, since the weather is a bit too chilly for outdoor nudism, too...

Their web site is in German, only, but the general info page reads: "Bitte beachten Sie, (...) dass die Benutzung der Schwimmbecken, Pools und Saunen ausschließlich textilfrei erfolgt." - translated: "Please bear in mind, that pools and saunas are to be used clothes-free only". Yeah, I'll oblige willingly... :D

Perhaps I'll get a Cleopatra Bath... horse milk and honey... :D

I'd be a nudist if I didn't live in below 0 temps 6 months out of the year! :D

Most of us just don't bother. Aside from Saunas and steam rooms if your have access to them and may be the odd organised swim in an indoor pool you basically can't. I know you can spend time in the buff in your heated abode but to be honest that is merely being naked indoors in probably artificial light; in my book that isn't naturism it's just saving wear and tear on your clothes at the expense of your heating bill.

Relaxing nude in a sunny conservatory when it's too cold for outside but comfortable in the conservatory is even pushing the bounds of true naturism; I do that sometimes but it's definitely second best. As for those hardy individuals who frolic nude in the snow, jump into freezing lakes well if you enjoy it fair enough.

    Roll on warm summer days!!!!

There are so many ways to stay naked outdoors in chilly or cold weather!
Sunny calm days are great. Even if temperatures are close to freezing, you can go outside for a while. You probably want to wear some shoes, but you will probably not need much else in those conditions. Play tennis, shoot some baskets, go for a walk. Your body will turn up the heat and you will discover that you really don't need clothes as much as you might think.

A sun porch or hothouse on a sunny afternoon helps while you wait for spring.
I sometimes sunbathe in a sheltered sunny part of my back patio.
I make a little vitamin D and I chase away the cabin fever.

Conventional wisdom suggets covering up. I think a clearification maybe in order. Nudists enjoy being nude no matter what, naturists enjoy being nude when its practial. Being outdoors in a cold environmen naaked is just silly. IMHO.

I am not being nude outdoors until it is uncomfortable. I always enjoy it. (until I decide to go in and warm up). In Finland, people will get so hot in the sauna they can't stand it and roll in the snow until they can't stand it and go back to the sauna etc, until they have had enough of the entire process. There is löyly in the experience and we are happier for it!

I don't know where you got that definition of nudism vs naturism, but I reject it entirely. The terms have different origin, but the difference between the two at this point in history is very subtle and not worth getting into in this discussion.

A lot of people are cheating themselves out of a perfectly good afternoon of nudity because they tell themselves that because it is winter, they assume that they can't be comfortable regardless of how dry, calm and sunny the weather is. I have never suggested that you be nude to the point of discomfort.

If you get a really fast game of tennis going, you'd be surprised how much you will WANT to peel off, even in cool weather.

I enjoy nudity in all seasons. But most nudists are creatures of the sun. Sometimes it frustrates me that -- even in my favorite 'Clothing Optional' resort -- many people are clothed at night and through the winter. But everyone has to choose for themselves, that's what 'Clothing Optional' is all about.

As for me, I prefer to be nude as much as possible, even in winter. I live naked, sleep naked (often without covers, as they bother me as much as clothing), and simply take reasonable precautions when the weather is truly severe (which happens rarely in California). Short periods of time outside in inclement weather are harmless. I've slid down a snowy hill in an inner tube naked during snowfall, for example. It's fun. It's also nice to get back to someplace warm and have a cup of hot cocoa.

Any activity that can be done clothed can also be done naked. I've seen naked skydivers, and naked deep sea divers. And though neither one of those is my 'cup of tea', it's not because of the nudity or extreme temperatures.

I come from a climate with mild winters that are too warm for snow but you still get frost in early mornings, I've tried very briefly to be nude cold(my climate) and observe very minor shivering not a bad thing I dont think and goosebumps but thats without heating but I suppose I could adjust but my circumstances now dont permit that so I'll have to wait a while. I liked your feedback :).

this makes me want to go down to the nude beach late this fall. but then reality kicks in and i think "i will want to leave after about 5 minutes". some of your ideas are good if available but i live in an open land area and i have no fence with the ex-mayor across the street and a sheriff behind my house and a business to the right of my house and an elderly lady to the left of my house. the only chance i have of going out naked is in the back yard when its night time because it is pitch black then.
hmmm there is a small 'woods a couple blocks over, that would be an adrenalin rush if i was to ever slip through there, dont know whats on the other side though, maybe i should make a clothed run first.

At beaches the most you would need is a wind break and the sun would warm your body on a day that is cool and sunny. You should definitely get some all-over sun in autumn to store vitamin D to last your body through the winter.

Like you, I used to be naked to the world until I put up my fence. That was a bit pricey, so you might start by rigging a sun shelter where you can at least lay out on a cot and make some vitamin D. What you are wanting is not morally wrong, it's a good thing, just widely misunderstood.

Yep, that's how it is done. Scope it out clothed first. The vegetation tends to provide better cover near creeks. In open woods you would want to be much more cautious. In the denser areas, you could make trails for yourself with some clippers, just keep the entrances to your trails natural and blocked from view. You can make a mental note where to go in, step past it and you are in your own naturist world. Weekdays tend to be quieter if your schedule allows.

I'm nude at home all year round but I admit I've never really considered being nude outdoors during winter months, I've tried it sometimes of course and it's been enjoyable but I wouldn't think "this is a nice place with no people around, I'm gonna get naked" in winter, like I might in summer.

Doesn't happen often, but some winter afternoons on the coast we get sunny days in the 70's (that's well above 21C for you Brits). That's plenty warm enough to drop your kit in the dry sand and lark about starkers!

Unclothed when possible, clothed when necessary. Figure it out.

That being said, I know a LOT of people who've made nude snow angels.
