this year, i'm trying to go barefoot a lot more. i usually can't stand the cold and always wore real shoes unless it was above 60. so this year i'm trying to toughen up my little feet. here's some pics of my feet out in the snowy sleet today. anyone else have pictures of their feet in the winter?
Oh yes. I've posted them before. Where I live it's much colder but somehow you're getting snow earlier than we are this year! I'll see what I can put up, or maybe finally start a gallery---Good luck with your new activity and let us know how it goes this winter.
i was only out there for a few minutes. i couldn't stand it too long. i just wanted to take some pictures since it's our first snow this season.
http://www.myspace.com/chelsietheredhead goes barefoot in the snow. I have never done it, but it never snows in florida, at least not way down south.
Hi there, some pix of me from last February. It was getting dark already, so the quality is not very high.
I'd like to try walking barefoot in the snow, but it almost never snows in this part of Texas. It did snow 2 years ago but only along the coast line which is south of me. thanks for posting rob
Very nice pictures, I’m impressed! I go barefoot all the time, but I’ve never went outside barefoot in the snow.
i have been running around barefoot for all of my 45 years however, i have never been barefoot in the snow. growing up on the mississippi gulf coast and in rural louisiana, i did not see much snowfall. as a young adult, i lived in san francisco for 4 years before returning to the gulf south. you are not going to see any snow there. unfortunately, i never had the pleasure of barefooting in the snow. since returning to the south in 1988 (new orleans), there have been 2 snowfalls: around xmas 1989 and xmas day 2004. therefore, the opportunities have been very limited (lol). elchivato, those are beautiful pics. i love the green nail polish, too cute.
I have gone out in the snow barefoot twice and I was ok for about a minute, these were fairly cold days. What I want to try is going out when the sun is melting the snow and warms up the ground a bit. As it is now my feet get really cold, even with shoes or boots on, along with my hands, I relate this to my childhood growing up in chicago where I spent time outside in the snow (with gloves and shoes and warm clothes on) for too long at a time. Now when I go out and its 20 degrees or below its really bad, I freeze almost instantly. What I would like to experiance is going barefoot in the winter with the temps in the 70's or 80's, that would be awesome.
It makes a difference. The kind of cold snow we have now, I can just sort of 'cut through' on my way, walking, to somewhere else. Not working or standing around in. My best snow barefooting is in early spring, with lots of old snow still laying, but the sun higher in the sky and temps in the 40's or 50's. No 70s or 80s here with snow. That kind of warmth comes in summer.
Being Barefoot in the snow is so awesome. It is the one good thing about winter. I spend as much time outside barefoot in the snow as possible. Every year I get minor frostbite (frostnip) on my feet a few times but I don't really mind much. The best snow for barefooting is new snow. Often, when the snow is falling the temperature is not too low, so I can be outside barefoot when it is snowing. Since snow is quite abrasive to skin, soft snow is far friendlier to your feet than snow that is hard and crunchy and actively melting. The temperature of the air and wind determines how long you can stay outside in the snow barefoot without suffering any ill effects such as frostbite. When the temp is above freezing, it is safe to be barefoot in snow for as long as you can stand it as long as your toes do not turn from red/pink in color to white. White toes indicate freezing which is a bad thing. I have grown accustomed to being barefoot in the snow for long periods when the weather is and air temperature is appropriate. I shovel the snow from the driveway barefoot and clean the snow off of the car barefoot. When doing these two things barefoot you never have to worry about getting snow in your boots. hehe I also like to go for long walks barefoot in the snow when the snow is not too deep. If you are busy doing some activity, it is far easier to stay out in the snow barefoot longer. Just standing around is not much fun. If you have never tried being barefoot in the snow, I recommend you try it sometime. Start out slow with just short trips like 30 seconds or so. Walk to the mailbox and back or take out the trash or walk around outside your door barefoot for a few steps. If you find you enjoy it, you can work your way up to being barefoot in the snow for longer periods. Here is very neat website by a guy in the Netherlands. It is NOT a commercial site, but beware of Geocitities Pop-ups. Text is in English. Enjoy: http://www.geocities.com/blootsvoets/ ____
I have never been barefoot in the snow either. Looks fun though! We don't have a lot of snow, but no shortage of rain. I love to play barefoot in the mud puddles.
El Chivato, those are excellent pictures. I love the footprints! I've gone barefoot in the snow when it does snow up here, and I am always curious to know what people think when they come upon my "tracks". I bet they look something like this: :stunned: Hehehe...also, I really like your green toenails. Very stylish. I wish I had some snowfooting pictures of my own to share. Next time we get a light dusting I'll make a point of bringing the digital camera along.
I grew up in NH, and my dad would ask me if I was nuts when I ran across the street to get the mail with barefeet during winter....but then he always thought I was nuts for going barefoot so much & always told me that I would be sorry when/if I ever cut them up real bad or something just as dumb. I'm in FL now & my elderly neighbor sounds just like my dad & always asking me where my shoes are.
yeah. hopefully there will be more snow this year so you can take some pics, matthew. and beautiful pictures, everyone else who posted.
