Hey guys. I visited your country two years ago. I was in Windsor, where my cousin lives. Next year, Ill finish my high school and Im thinking of coming there to live and study. In Windsor again, thats becouse I know the city and I like it too. Can someone tell me is it possible for two students (me and my bf), to find some nice place to live, job and get in the university?! And also, how hard is it to get visa for a student? Thanks Sorry for my bad English, Im studying in a French class)
if you want to live near the university, that's a bad move. The area around the U of W is a hole like no other unless you find a decent place along the river, which could cost quite a bit. Why you would chose windsor is beyond me....i moved out of there the second i could. There are so many more beautiful places in this country.....but if you're really wanting to go there....jobs can be hard to find...depending how much education you have....and chances are if you're a student you'll just be working some retail job for minimum wage.....if you're into bars and partying, you wont have a problem fitting in with the infinite amount of top 40 bars all packed in the downtown area. There are a couple of good hang outs for more...'alternative' people...which i liked. But everyone i know has, or is trying, or dying to get out of windsor. There's no history, no culture. Everyones obsessed with cars, polluting, fake tans and breast implants. Independant shops are a rarety and the attitude of the general population is ignorant. All bad things aside.....there are some nice things to see in the county......decent beaches....point pelee and pelee island are really nice in the summer & fall.....leamington is a beautiful little town about 40 mins away......those are my favorite places to visit when i go back home...... either way, good luck, and i hope you find what you're looking for.
The thing is - Im scared of being in other country, just me and my bf with no one that we know. In Windsor I have my cousin, you know... Thats why Id like to go there. Other nice place for studying and working in Canada? But only if it a kind of student city with many others like us. Im so god damn scared of this!
Windsor a City? I thought it was a Town. Anyway, Very difficult to get visa as it usually is for non europeans to come live in europe. An interesting Town, further up, Reading. Very good colleges and university. Why Britain. Once you spend a year in England, you will suddenly go "Oh", and think, why you didn't choose en France to a Londres. Pariseans are friendlier, there are no demonic children of the corn youths and the quality of life is brilliant. Imagine.. Fresh bread stick with French brie with a lovely cup of coffee over looking the river seinne. Well Windsor has two places really. Eton and Windsor. Choose wisely, costs vary drastically depending what side of the river you live.
That sums up Windsor in a nutshell. I use to live in Chatham (which is a hole also) and would visit Windsor all the time. Leamington is a nice place (my mom lives there) but I always got a bad vibe from most of the population. I have to agree though, if you are moving to Canada, Windsor is not a good place to start. Hey Lucy, have you ever been down in Sandwichtown? I used to know some people down there.
not so much...... chatham really is a hole too. i used to date someone out there when i was younger and would visit on an almost weekly basis. it's like the shitty parts of windsor without the crazy bastards to liven the place up. I swear i've seen tumbleweed out in chatham. i feel so bad for people who live there.
