I'm sorry guys but I must vent a little here... Windows 8 is an absolute piece of shit. It seems like it would be alright on tablets/I-pads, etc... but on a laptop or desktop it's fucking horrible!! I've been using it for almost a year now.. it came w/ my new laptop sadly. I've gotten used to it but it's quite annoying. I feel like my touch pad is so sensitive, it is constantly bringing up things i don't need. Currently, google chrome is now coming up in some different window (separate of the desktop screen) w/ black lining at the top of the screen..in which I cannot "X" out, minimize, etc in the top right corner... it's just a black bar..everytime I click on google chrome, it takes me out of my normal desktop screen, and "slides" me to a some random window elsewhere... (can still use the web and everything though). It's just so annoying! Anyways, sorry for my rant.. but windows 8 is fucking horrible... much love! :sunny:
I recently bought a new computer and I had the option to choose Windows 7 or Windows 8. I picked Windows 7.
I have no experience with windows 8 but a friend of mine has it on his latop and he said he was glad he could change the settings and how it looked a lot to match the former windows. So I recommend you try that as well. It seems to make it a lot more bearable.
So true I had to suffer it on a desktop machine a while back. IMO it's an OS with only touch screen devices in mind.
LOL... one of the biggest marketing projection fuck-ups in a long time, the idea that EVERYBODY would want to use touchscreens. Many PC sellers are taking a bath on touch screen systems and are offering them at lower prices to try and move them. It is fine for a phone or tablet, but impractical and more cumbersome to navigate than simple mouse/keyboard on a larger platform. Now Windows 8, or actually Win 8.1 is a solid and robust OS, they just fucked it by throwing touch-screen tech on top of it. You can set the GUI to be more like Win 7, but not fully, some touch features still get in the way. It really just takes time to get familiar with it. But in the business world of computers and tech devices, assuming that touch screen would take off has become an embarrassing blunder for many companies and Microsoft.
I have widows 8 and I upgraded to windows 8.1......its Microsoft....of course they don't let google run smooth on their op system.....fuck google anyway I trust bill gates to the nth degree so I use no add ons what so ever and my laptop runs smooth as silk.....it takes some getting used to but after you learn the various functions its great...I like it I have a midline asus computer....its way faster than I could ever hope to type.i also do not let my kid near this thing...that helps
For the average home user, Win 8 is fine and you can maneuver around the touch features if needed, but in the business world touchscreen technology is a flop, at least from what I have seen and heard from friends in the industry. One of the better uses I have seen is at restaurants and at some of the MMJ dispensaries, they use tablets to take your order, much faster, no miscommunication, etc., but for a typical office setting, touchscreen tech bites.
i don't think i've ever even seen windows 8. which is apparently a good thing. especially since i hate everything touchscreen that i've ever used.
You know, beneath the smartphone bullshit toy UI, it's better engineered than windows 7, has the best security policies of any windows. I only run it occasionally in VM when I need to use powerpoint or something of course. I'm a Linux man myself.
Woh woh woh woh woh..... what?! I'm rockin' Mountain Lion for most of my shit, but Bootcamp with Windows 7 when I feel like hacking people to bits with claymores, or poppin' some caps in motherfuckers gettin' all up in ma grill.. I would prefer to be on XP still, but hey. My dads got W8, and he feels your pain.
7 Years Since I Bought My First Puuuter With XP, Over That Time I Have Had One Small Upgrade.... I Am Totally Amazed That Something As Complex As A Puuuter Could Turn Out To Be One Of The Most Reliable Purchases I Have Ever Made.... Cheers Glen.
From Microsoft's support page; Based on the description, I understand that you want to disable touch screen on Windows 8, I would suggest you to refer the steps mention below. a. Winkey + Q. b. Type Control Panel. c. Go to Hardware and Sound. d. Pen and touch. e. Click the touch tab. f. Disable use your finger as an input. I'm still getting along fine with Vista. It's alright once you turn most of the annoying security features off.
