Does anyone know a cheap and efficient way to lightproof and insulate a window? I was thinking of drawing the shades to a close while leaving the window open. Then tacking up a sheet over it and finally screwing in a piece of styrofoam board or sheetrock over that. The window will also be my exit for my exhaust so I would cut a hole out of the board or sheetrock, of course. Any advice greatly appreciated.
I used to leave my top window open, put some blinds or sheet up to cover the inner window then I would cover the whole window with a piece of chipboard (only cheap from woodshop.) You can even ask them at the woodshop to cut a hole in your board a suitable size for your extractor fan. You could put carpet tape around the edges of the board to make it completely lightproof.
