So i know there is a good chance this thread may cause seriously flaming and trolls to come out and play.. but im not asking for a whos right.. whos wrong.. just what you personally think.. i know we're all still young.. and as people get older.. like late 40s.. 50s.. 60s and so on.. people who once didn't really have an opinion on religion suddenly seem to "find god".. i know as us being young folk.. we often don't worry about what happens when we die.. or we come to some sort of conclusion that keeps us content for the time being.. but like i said.. as people get older they seem want to make peace with whatever may be in our after life.. Bob Dylan is a great example.. was never a god man.. actually kinda sorta frowned upon the whole idea.. you can see it in some of his earlier work.. and now.. sorta since the 80s.. he's squeeze some religion into his life..

so anyways.. what do you think? have you found god? will you one day look for god when you get older and your time is getting near?

PS: keep the quoting to yourself.. like i said.. lets keep this peaceful and i am just wondering what everyone thinks

Me personally.. i don't know.. honestly.. and really.. im at a point in life where i just don't have the time or need for religion or a god.. i think though at a later time in my life i will start searching harder for those answers.. but right now.. im just living my life.. i think religion.. when not used for power does have some great points.. like keeping communities close.. and following certain life lessons that have been handed down through scripts of all sorts.. do i think there is something more out there? yes.. what it is? i don't know.. but i find it hard to believe that at some point i will die and there will be nothing more to be said about it

I found god, but don't really care. An afterlife of a heaven would be nice, I'm just a deist though, I believe something in the realms of god like could create an existence and physical world that functions by itself under laws of science.

I've already done my soul-searching and have realized that I don't believe in god. When/if I live long enough to become an old man, my beliefs may change, but I doubt it.

i don't know what i'll find or believe in. i've always been interested in philosophy and spirituality, for as long as i can remember, and i'm always exploring. currently i don't hold any beliefs in a deity. philosophy keeps me busy..i have few beliefs related to spirituality because my mind is very flexible.

re: old people finding god... in some cases searching out spirituality and religion at old age is a means of coping with life and death

Ok. So me, and some other people and my bf had this big discussion about god.
It was actually pretty cool. We talked about it for like two hours and said all of our views, asked questions and set everything straight.

We came to believe that its all fake. And i don't beleive in god.
I don't think that it will change later but i never know the future.

Indeed. I have no qualms about death, personally. If god/satan/heaven/hell/whatever exists, then I'll just be leaving one hell to go to another one, so what's the big deal? lol

I've brought this up before, but I'm gonna re-post it:

Souls don't exist. Animals have been cloned, and the clones had the same personality/behavioral patterns as the originals. This being the case, souls CAN'T exist, because personality is supposedly a reflection of the soul. If souls actually existed, then the clones would just be soulless zombies or some shit, because it would be impossible to clone a soul.

If souls don't exist, then god doesn't exist.

That in itself though requires some form of being religious. Not necessarily a belief in a "god", but a belief in some kind of super natural force occurring in the universe.

    *edit*
    Souls =/= god

I would say i evolved from my previous need to state odds, science and personal opinion for anyone who refused to question for themselves important concepts like religion. I would be that guy arguing with someone who does not even know their beliefs all that well.

I guess after enough time of *discussing* the issue with people, and even reading opinions online,i have grown to accept the need for it in today's society. I am not saying i approve of it, i see it as somewhat of a snowball effect. Historically, if a different path had been taken, ideally the perfect one, then there would be no need for it to exist, assuming it does not. However, today faith is too embedded in our society, if suddenly proof came out that faith is just a filler for an answer for the question, it would perhaps do a lot more bad instantly then good in the long run.

I myself am kind of questioning this whole reality concept right now. Considering for a moment it is simply but a name for what most people share their interpretations of various stimuli, i am thinking of how much there is that we are not aware of, be it due to us not being able to as a species, or simply not being enough advanced.

Am really stuck on the 'there's more to it than meets the eye', so things like established religions seem too small right now, too much unknown to believe in something yet IMO.
I am really beginning to understand the concept of a personal religion, and i am honestly growing to respect it. I have accepted that nothing in this existence is truly proven, even the most unlikely may be true. I am just running instead on exploration of my own mind and its interpretations, trying to figure myself out, while also understanding if i really need the answers instead of the need to simply ask questions.

I think that a belief in God and Religion are two different things. You don't need to belong to a church in order to worship God in your own way.

Do I believe in a higer power. Yes, I do think that there is a posibility that there is a higher power at work here. The chance occurance for life to begin on this planet are very slim and almost none. However, I don't think God is sitting around wondering what Bob or Nancy are doing today. I think that God tends to look at the bigger picture. I can't explan myself the way that I want to in this regard but I don't think I am going to Hell. Although I should.

Now, religion, that is a whole other story. There are so many religions that have similar ideas and natures that it's very hard to see who is right and who is wrong. The story over the years has been so convoluted that who really knows. The church is more like a club, people of a like minded nature flock together and discuss ideas that they all believe in to the ideal of how they worship God. So, many off shoots of a church and the idea gets out of focus and a whole other religion pops up. The church is great for those people who need to be lead or need help. It's great for any community. Then again more wars, examples of greed and just plain old problems as a result of the church interfearing with our lives. It's just like government.

Don't make me feel guilty for not supporting a church just let me worship God in my own way. Religious intollerance has ruined so many lives. Let people be people.

Dude I totally remember we had this discussion a year ago. Can't believe I remember that lol. I was totally disagreeing with you too :p
I was sayin that like the clone would have to be a different soul, that's the only way it would make sense because you can't be two places at the same time.

    I completly agree with this..
What do you believe happens to you after death.
If god doesnt exist then heaven and hell doesnt exist.

Like i siad i believe in nature.. recarnation.

That's the thing though, nature is not reincarnation. Nature is your body decaying into elements and compounds, becoming food and fuel for other animals, fertilizing the ground, ect. Reincarnation means some form of supernatural energy is in a body to be transferred after death and continue on.
