No one can deny or doubt the criminal assualt these two and their minnions have visited on our nation. I think it could at least help in our recovery as a nation/as a people if these two are charged with their many crimes. Charged, tried and punished becuase there is no douybt of their guilt. Yeah, I'm an old man, I dream a lot but I wonder if others feel as I do? Of course the guilt goes beyond these two but if an example can be made of them perhaps it would give pause to others. Mccain has sold out any morals he might have had and coupled with palin I fear what they might try should they be elected. All the more reason to punish bushcheney for their crimes to set an example.
It's doubtful, and even if they were it is unlikely much if anything would change at all since Bush and Cheney are simply frontmen for the corporate and financial institutions who weild the true power and control both political parties. Anyone who thinks Bush and Cheney are in control, really doesn't understand the way things work.
I don't think a case against Bush/Cheney would hold water. They would not be convicted in a court of law.
Rat,Whether or not your right about the people in back of bush/cheney does matter. It's a moral lesson for all of us perhaps children especially. Everyone knows bush/cheney have commited crimes against humanity in general, against the American people and certainly against the constitution. How or why would any child think there is any reason to follow the law? If these two figureheads escape it sends a clear message that laws have no value. While it is up to parents to instill morals, our task is compounded when these blatant criminals pay no consequence for their actions. Even if they evaded conviction there is the value of standing accused before the people. For some of us there still remains the importance of a good name. I hope someone will have the courage to do the right thing and pursue charges against them.
I feel your pain, but I don't think it's going to happen. They bought and paid for their protection long ago. Too many people owe them. Little Dennis Kucinich keeps trying to fight the good fight. But hardly anyone listens. It will look very sad in the text books of the future.
it would hold water if actual investigation were done, but the courts are so sold to the corruption that no investigation would actually happen.
They may be horrible people who sold themselves to corporations.... but they never lied under oath. Clinton was certainly tied to corporate government, but he lied under oath- and his buddies had no protection for him. The matter is simple- Neither Bush nor Cheney have been irrefutably caught lying under oath. Thats it.
Perhaps they hadn't been sworn in on a bible, but the fact remains, they lied to the American public to force a preemptive war. And they did it shamelessly time and time again. And then there's the matter of the huge no-bid contracts with Haliburton. And the total lack of oversight and control of private contractors in a war zone. The issue of Bush standing on national tv and telling the American public he was going to hold the person responsible for the outing of Valerie Plame accountable. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2007/07/president_bush_commutes_scoote.html
