hey guyz, ok, i was a wiccan for like a year and then i became a christian again, and still am, but i really miss being a wiccan, i cant choose, i love being both and i beleive alot on both sides, i cant choose plz help! peace love music
...*bites tongue*... Let me try to respond to this. First off: you don't really 'switch' religions that easily. You're young and obviously you are searching, I did the same.. but at one point you will realize that no one is asking you to make a 100% choice about who or what you are. If you make a solid decision now, it's basically called 'foreclosure' in psychological terms. It means that you feel the need to belong to a certain group, something you can identify with, follow and embrace. But by doing that without giving yourself the time of exploring the different things out there as well as giving yourself the chance of developing as an individual, you are really restraining yourself and it'll probably come back haunting you in the future. Give yourself some time to discover what's out there.. wicca and christianity can be combined, but it's not the most obvious choice I guess and inmho a combination of the both is kinda artificial.. beside the fact that any true christian will point out that there is only one god, not a whole arrange of dieties or Goddess or whatever. Plus, there is a lot more besides Christianity and Wicca.. the pagan spectrum is very large, plus there are all the other religions. Or you just become an ecclectic, like I think most of the people here are
well i guess thats true, i jsut get it all so messed up, its so frustrating at times. im not sure wat i believe, cause, i need more than just a book or teachings to convince me.
it'll all work out.. my experience is that forcing things doesn't work, things like that seem to 'find you'.. just label yourself as 'spiritual' or sth like that for now.. pay attention to why exaclty you are doing certain things, why you hold certain morals (is it because you are brought up with them or because of some personal experiences.. or anything else?).. etc etc.. and in the mean time.. don't forget to breath I'm still frustrated at times, especially when I talk to people who are very convinced and solid in a specific religion. They have so much support by their believes that I almost envy them, but I know that's not for me.. I could never completely follow on religion.. I'm an ecclectic, I know that much by now. Personally.. I feel like I'm combining some pagan things with some buddhist things, although lately when talking to a friend I noticed that a lot of my believes are similar to antroposophic views as well. So.. forget about words and labels, groups and dogma's.
Why do you need a label. Ok lets break it down Do you believe that Jesus was the son of the god Yahweh? and is the lord and saviour of man? OR do you believe in fairys, fluff bunny rituals, wearing velvet robes and reading new age books, whilst worshipping EVERY god other than Yahweh? Answer yes or no to one of these, and there is your answer.
personaly i choose not to choose i beleive the ultimate blasphemy is to claim you know the truth, or know gods (goddess wankun tonka the universe whatever) will or who it is the only way i can see to truly understand is to say i just dont know.. god is unknowable & too immence to be explained by any religion.. itds the question that can be contemplated yet never answered run & hide from any religion claimimng to know the truth, cause most likely since they all claim that yet contradict eachother then they must all be wrong.
On a more serious note. You obviously believe in Yahweh. Guess what, so do i. do i worship him? no. He isnt my god, nor was he my ancestors god. I worship the gods of my ancestry, while believing in the gods of all faiths. If mine exist, then so do theirs. To be a christian can be confused with leading a moral life. But i dont believe it can be mixed with wicca, the conflict to much. Wiccans can have the same morals and similar beliefs as a christian but i dont see them merging. Paganism has mixed with the Catholic faith, but Catholosism is a little more mixable that Protestantism. WIth the saints and what not. A lot of European gods, like Bride, are saints now. Voodoo mixed with it, and so does South east asian animism. Animism can blend a little better with Catholic beliefs again, because Catholics allow for spirits, saints, etc. Hebrew faith cant have any other gods, Yahweh specifically says so. Though most of the Jewish faith believe there are other gods, just not for them. Standard christian beliefs only belief in that one, so your hands are tied. If you are going to be wiccan, why limit yourself to the worship of that one god, when there is no reason to worship him. The threats that Yahweh made were to his people, he never said that to mine. So unless you are Hebrew, you owe Yahweh nothing. If you just wanna do what jesus did because you think he is a cool guy, then Paganism can mix with it just like it could with buddism, tao, or any other philosopy based code of moral. But the dogma of the church doesnt allow it. So you have to know what you believe.
media hype? lol i was referring to the ones that showed up to our solstice ritual a few weeks ago lol.
the answer issimple, follow your own path discover your own truth.. theres allittlee truth in every beleif & a whole lot of lies as long as you reject the notion that there is only 1 way, & seek your own, you will find it. just the fact that your willing to ask thse questions shows me your really taking those steps to discover your own personal relatinship and are realizing noone else can show you the way
msmorrison, what calls to your soul in Xtianity? What calls to your soul in pagan traditions? How can you mix them? I believe (and someone in the group tell me if I misinterpret) Church of All Worlds (CAW) incorporates the "christ spirit" in its beliefs. Check out the Unitarian Universalist church or fellowship in your area. They probably also have a branch of CUUPS: Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans as well. Of course the fairywinged whitelightbunnies might be there, too. Gotta take what you get sometimes. http://www.uua.org/ http://www.cuups.org/content/intro.html
well i have been taught all my kife that jesus is the only way, the only truth and if u dont follow him that ur going to eternal danmnation, and thats kinda burried in me, cause its been in my life since i was able to speak, but, i dont beleive it all, theres something wrong, something missing, i dont know wat it is, but its there, and, im drawn to paganism because well its in my blodd, my brother is a pagan and my sister a wicca s well, and so, i am jsut really drawn to it, it makes me feel close to nature which i love because i am hippy and what hippy dosnt want to be close to nature? but, i dont know, all my friends are christians except one of my bffs shes a wiccan, were going into this together, i jsut want to make shure this is what i want and im following my heart and im not taking the wrong path, religeon is very importantto me, its life its what fills the emptiness i sometims feel when i have nothing, its my glue, i need it. so, thank u for all your help, i am going to pursue wicca and not think about what my church thinks. thanks guys! =)
I'm sorry, but if you look at Gardners 165 laws as well as the general view of Wicca, as well as what the christian bible says about witchcraft, Wicca and Christianity can not be combined.
Basing anything on Gerald Gardner's views doesn't lend much credibility. He's been refuted. Just because the Christians say you can't doesn't make it so.
Zoomie, if the Christian church says it, about their religion, then thats the rules man. You cant just make everything up to suit your own needs, even if you are wiccan, some things are just that way.
be both, there are no set rules for spirituality, although some churches want you to think that. but there arn't. I was both for years, now I'm mostly pagan, I do belive in the christian God though. I really belive that as long as you arn't hurting anyone else or yourself, and you try hard to be the best person you can, then God will be fine with whatever you choose to do to be close to him. you can still pray to God and do Magick. I honestly think I have a better relationship with God now then I ever have because not only do I worhip him I highly respect the world he created, and other than magick that's all wicca really is. my dad said it best one time, it doesn't matter what road you take as long as you end up with God. I believe that to be soooooo true.
I really disagree, why should they make all the rules? why should they beable to say who gets to go to heaven and who doesn't why should they get to make the rules on getting to heaven, isn't that Gods job? and who is Gardner to make the rules for wicca give me a break. whichcraft has been around a hell of alot longer than Gardner, I think he just wanted to start his own little cult. sorry if I offended anyone who follows him. I just don't believe there are a set of rules for spirituality.
