I know I'm preaching to the choir, but why don't more people go barefoot? Kids especially. When I was a kid all kids went barefoot. I went to the store yesterday evening and people were wearing shoes and socks. SHOES AND SOCKS. Or ridiculous sandals. The evening temperature was a perfect 78 degrees. Not cold, not hot. Perfect. The asphalt felt wonderful. The store was too cold, but the tiles were pleasant. But cold. I don't understand why places turn the air conditioning way up. (Or would you say way down?)

    Summer...I love the heat.

  2. Because people are (with a forward apology to the animal) sheep. That's how "normal" becomes the norm, because most people accept it (not wearing masks, wearing shoes, etc). Most New Zealanders accept barefooting, so that's their "normal." Most U.S. people don't, so that's our "normal." People need to learn over great swaths of time that their beliefs/behaviors might change (once the liver was considered the symbol of emotion, then it became the heart; personally, I prefer the sacroiliac): don't be pawing women, black people ARE humans, women ARE equal, blah blah. We go barefoot so that others might adapt.

I don't get it, either. I walk through my neighborhood, and see people putting on shoes to sit on their porch or patio.
It's summer, and it's time to be barefoot!!!

I don't see people actually putting on shoes, but I dont see anyone barefoot anywhere. I guess if that's what they like for themselves then OK, but it wasnt that long ago that like every other day i'd see people in their yards or on sidewalks barefoot. I;ll do what I want but I thought that with lots of unemployment and people worried about the virus, more people would be hanging out relaxed in bare feet now that it's summertime, guess I was wrong:angry:

it is the vicious circle of shoes. nasty things can be found on the ground so people starts occasionally wearing protections for their feet. Soon their soles become soft and vulnerable enticing to more shoe-wearing. Minding about not littering the soil with things that are unpleasant to step on also turns superfluous to the shod people, who in this way create an unfavourable environment for barefooters, full of hazards like glass, scrap iron, cigarette butts and all sorts of rubbish.
The more people wear shoes, the more they litter. More litter means more need for shoes and the cycle starts over. It is like an addiction, but on a collective level.

People who want to go barefoot find it socially unacceptable and consider it unsafe. People who don't (the majority) think it is dirty, dangerous, trashy etc.

It was what I thought would happen but in my experience no one cares, unless you step barefoot into an hospital ward of a major one. And I made it from the entrance right into the actual ward spite of all the checks. The nurses were the only ones to come up with the "we are in the middle of a pandemic" argument. Oh, and an overzealous mall cop too. But he was just young and visibly nervous about his job. Older private guards be like "is ok to be barefoot here?" "yeah chief, the staff is cool with this" "all right move on."
it has to be said that there are reports of people so terrified they were literally leaving all their garments at the door when home. I don't know wtf they make of them, probably they pick all the clothes with a pitchfork and burn them in the yard.

It's the sheep factor as nuspieds said. It's been ingrained in people from childhood that when you go outside you wear shoes and only very few people think to challenge it. The ridiculous thing is people thing you're more likely to get injured going barefoot than wearing casts that cause bunions, bent toes etc.

At work today I had a meeting with a girl and her colleague in my office and as soon as she came in she slipped off her shoes and put her bare feet up on a spare chair...they were so beautiful, tanned, painted pink toes and soft looking soles...she spent the rest of the meeting barefoot...made me happy :)

Yes, and I saw a smoking hot barefoot red-head in the car next to me in a parking lot. They're still out there. Chuckles!

Nice! Did she have her feet on the dash?

This girl at work frustrates me...have great chemistry and she messages me a lot on Instagram (has plenty of barefoot photos)...but it never goes any further. It’s a mix of happiness seeing her barefoot and carefree but I’d love to get to know her for real. But that’s beside the point of this thread!

I can't exactly explain it but red headed women always seem to have nice feet.

Yes, and without looking she knew I was looking and wriggled her toes. I was about to hit on her when her guy came out of the store. Whipcord thin and tough looking. Actually I must say they looked like a perfect couple. Except the dude was wearing shoes and socks! And it was 85 degrees!

As for that girl at work, I don't see the chemistry if she's just teasing you like that.

I have to agree but its extremely dangerous in a vehicle equipped with an in-dash airbag for the passenger.

Barefoot on the dash...I love that look. Hopefully there'll be more sights like that this summer!

There is a spark and others have said so too, very pretty but I won't be messed around, beautiful feet or not :/

You are correct, I've seen pics of some horrific accidents due to this. Sexy, but risky. I still look though....

Well, you just have to suck the joy out of a favorite visual.

Have you actually walked up to her and asked her out? A walk in the park would be a good acid test.

No, the horrific accidents are due to bad driving, not some girl putting her feet on the dashboard. Although if you see a chick's feet on the dashboard and you rubber-neck, you could get into an accident!

But yes, dad...buckle up and put your feet on the floor.

As for feet on the dash or out the window...I love driving in the west with my bare left foot out the window and my bare right foot on the dash. Cruise control. Yes, dangerous I suppose...but have you ever driven across Nevada, New Mexico or Wyoming? Miles and miles of nothing. And you get out on back roads and stop...and walk around. Unbelievable. Those from the west understand what I'm saying. If you're an Easterner...come on out. Montana is good in summer...so is Idaho. But I love the desert high country. Utah is the best. Five National parks. Arches is all sandstone...very barefoot nice.
