I know we have a few youngin's in here and a few that weren't there long ago. But why is it that when we are young we feel the need to vandalize our town?

I know when I was younger I did it, and I really had no reason why I did it. I just did. However it was nothing a bit of soap and elbow grease couldn't get out. I mean, these days kids are breaking windows, spray painting roads/buildings/cars/houses --- what's the point? I mean what do YOU get out of that?

Made me wonder because I live in a SMALL ass town. I say maybe we push 2000, MAYBE haha. But I once again was out walking my dog and on the road in HUGE letters it said "Ball Sack Bitches". Are you kidding me? WHY? lol What is the point in that? Then on the local garage/gas station on the back it says "2 Pac for life" and on the other side of the building, in the same colour it has a picture of a punk with a mohawk --- Really, is it needed?

Youth today are uncontrollable. Lord help me if my children even THINK this stuff is okay to do, but I also believe it's all in how we are raised and I certainly am NOT raising them to be like this.

    I wonder the same thing.

I was driving down the street the other day and had my country music blaring (don't criticize me, I probably like the same music as you, too), and these kids started screaming at me to turn it down when I was at a red light-yet it is ok for them to drive by at 3am with their rap/rock/reggae blaring.

We found nazi signs (I forget what they're called in English) on the side of our fire department building a few weeks ago, too. What is the point?

I'm young, and i had my fair share of trouble making-but I'd never ruin a piece of history or society. I don't get it.

I dont dig th mindless profanity, its just ugly, but I can see it as a way to feel in control. I LOVE street art though. We should vandalize everything more in the form of art, not hate. Its our town. We all share it. Make it beautiful.

i've never ever understood that. why shit where you eat? go vandalize someon ELSE'S town. like riotters: go fuck up the man's neighborhood, not your own! it makes no sense!!! next thing you know, your rundown neighborhood is even worse than it was before, and no one wants to bring their money in because of the violence and the warzone neighborhood. c'mon, people!!

I don't do it... but i know people who do and i can totally understand why.

It pretty obvious really... its normally people who feel at a loss with the social conscience of their society.. because they feel rebelious and see/have no need to give a damn about other peoples possesions.. usually because they have no children... no long term job.. and because of this won't be any worse of.... What they do get is the thrill of a chase from the pigs... or just the general sense of being micheavous etc.

So weigh it up in their minds..

    (1) Thrill seeking is fun
    (2) They see no reason to think about the impact it has on others
    (3) They lose nothing
    (4) They have fun

I don't know why some people vandalize things, maybe to get attention. I've never done it, I don't really see a point to it.

Oh and to the starter of this thread, you say your town is small with about 2000 people? There's about 400 here.

Well it can't be most of that because these kids are like 12-16 @ most. But I understand what you all are saying and partly believe some of it is probably true. The families here are so wrong in most cases. Even I feel bad for some of the kids lol. You will also see small children wondering the streets at like 12am (by small I mean ages 6-10) and in most cases I can bet it's because their parents are too drunk to even notice they're gone or realize what time it is.
