Because most people act decent for only 2 reasons: 1.) Fear of hell. 2.) Fear of the law. It's a damn shame. If people were decent on their own, without external pressures, then we'd live in a much better, and more authentic world. Fuckin bitches.
Belief in God creates a fear of hell? In my experience, knowing and loving God should do nothing to instill a vibration of fear in a person. Maybe you aren't doing it right. I, for one, do not fear eternal damnation, simply because I know that everything is impermanent. The only constant in the universe is change. And there is no other end result, other than complete and total reunification with the Creator, through the learning and perfection of love and compassion. For that is all god is, pure love and compassion. And he does not wish to see his children attach to such earthly concepts as burning in fire and brimstone, and being poked by red scaly men with tridents. All he wishes is for each and every soul to find its way back to him, which is the inevitable result of all things.
There's a 3rd reason but no one likes to talk about it, and it has nothing to do with either government or religion. It's personal responsibility. We all know right from wrong. Why do we need something like religion or government to tell us that...because we won't accept it?...most of the world anyway. Why is that? Perhaps, because we let others set the standards. I am comfortable with who I am and what I perceive as right and wrong. I don't need confirmation. I am not high on the party invitation lists of my friends, but I don't have a problem facing myself in the mirror every morning. It is a DAMN SHAME!
OMG. But laws "control" people! People should never be forced to conform to anything! They should have choices to kill and be killed by their own liberty and freedom! (sarcasm)
Ari, you don't need laws to live in a decent and upright society. If you had looked further into the website I told you about, you would know that. www.thinkfree.ca
My God is all of Creation. So technically speaking, your God is my God. And vice versa. Dualiam is an illusion. All is one. One is all.
Take what you like, and leave the rest. I'm not forcing anything upon you, just sharing my views on the Ultimate Reality.
The only ultimate reality is that of the experience of the individual. You know what's right or wrong, and no one's death can expunge the fact that any one individual chooses to make a wrong decision. That's why there are courts and criminals are held accountable. Otherwise everyone could walk off scott free and there would be no reason for a death penalty.
Actually, the focus would be better directed at what makes people indecent and immoral in the first place.
Indeed, you have heard of the Venus project? They look suspect as NWO lackeys, but they have some good points. And they are promoted by Zeitgeist...
I think you all have it wrong. The reason why people need God and the Government is this: 1) People need God because they need to unload their problems. It's one thing to have problems, and it's a totally other thing to beat yourself up and torture yourself for having problems in your life. Once you give your problems to God, you realize that slowly you can feel yourself as being different from your actual problems. You don't have to feel you should have done this, or said that anymore. It's for someone else to worry about. 2) People need the government because they need to unload their problems. If their problems are like someone else's problems, they want to start a club. People need to believe in strong governments because they need to feel better about their problems in some kind of pro-active way.
People need God and Government because they are conceptual reasons for social order. (Sorry, my sleep pill is totally kicking in.... ZZZzzzzZZZZzzzz)
Yeah, I am familiar but very skeptical of it. It seems to be promoting an HG Wells style technocracy.
