Can any of you tell me why hemp is illegal?

You can't get high with that plant, and it's one of the worlds most usable plant,so why it's still illegal.

and i'm growing 4 of those plants at home will this bring me any trouble with the pigs in blue?

Hemp is illegal because it stands to cut into the profits of very powerful people. That's the whole reason THC was criminalizes to begin with.

If you get caught, yes, you will be in trouble.

    http://usahitman.com/eacbafpdmib/

p.s: why can governments interrupt with our lives? If i want to drug my self it's my problem and my decision no one can tell me i can not do this its my freaking life who are they to tell me how to live? Isn't this our human right to experiment with molecules nature has put in our planet? So by not letting us experiment they are destorying our rights. ah fuck it there are no rights this are just things humans made up.

Cool screen name Wolfman. Always nice to see a phan on here. The link on DMT is correct. Governments do not like psycedelics because they encourage people to question things. They act is if they are concerned with our health and psychedelics are somehow dangerous, but it all comes down to wanting a population that believes what they are told.

As for hemp it is like you said it is a useful plant. It is a better fabric then cotton. A single crop of hemp that takes a season to grow can create more paper then cutting down a forest of the same size that takes decades to grow. There are so many products that it can replace, so those people fight to keep it illegal.

Is it 4x? Wow I had always heard it was an equal ratio.

Even more reason why hemp is useful.:)

Yup.....4x. That's impressive without even considering that's annually compared to the 30 years it takes timber to mature.

I worked at a printing shop for a few years and one day Woody Harelson came walking through the place! He came to try and persuade the company to switch to hemp paper. We ran a few jobs with it, but Woody didn't realize that the customers choose the paper.

To the contrary.....farmers here have been pushing for hemp legalization for decades. Even in the tiny hick towns I've seen protests for hemp.

The National Farmers Union is even on board:

cannabis hemp isnt the fix all everyone thinks it is..

I dont need a pair of jeans to last 20years..

Its not going to put a dent in the cost of fuel currently and the future pumps. if anything, the cost will increase for bio additives in the fuel.

    Its a nuisance to ranchers..

    Its not drought resistant..

Its does not control erosion better than Phalaris grass..

Wild hemp pollen adds to hay fever..

Wild hemp will damage your sensimilla// for those that care to grow cannabis for medical reasons outdoors..

I have a hemp wallet, it's not completely illegal, the trick is the thc content has to be ridiculously low in the product. I've also seen some stoners use a hemp wick that is "safer for burning your weed with" .. Even if it is, I find that funny

I'm sure hemp will be pushed soon, I don't know if Colorado or
Washington's amendment mentioned anything about hemp?

He'll yeah! Dude was wearing swimming trunks, a tank top, flip flops, and a real fancy suit jacket... We had other celebrities in there before, as we printed entertainment media. Many artists would come in to sign off on the job personally. But no one else even acknowledged the employees. Woody wanted to shake everyone's hand in that building. He was a cool cat

It is my understanding that many years ago hemp competed with cotton for ropes . The cotton farmers had hemp made illegal so it could not compete with cotton . desert rat

Cotton, Timber, and petroleum. Within a year of the "Marihuana Tax Act of 1937," which succesfully banned Cannabis and Hemp, Popular Mechanics Magazine published an article claiming that anything that's produced from cotton, timber, or petroleum could be made from Hemp. They called it a "Billion Dollar cash crop," reporting over 10,000 uses.

If it was a Billion dollar cash crop in 1938, how much would it be in 2013? According to this calculator, http://www.westegg.com/inflation/infl.cgi, it would be $16,085,867,144.27. That's a $16 Billion + industry, and that's using 1938 technology. Take into consideration that we could probably do a lot more with it today, and I'm sure that number would climb drastically.

everything that's good for you is illegal. you can't get high on hemp but hemp oil is great for fighting cancer that's why the government doesn't want you to grow it. so what they do is make propaganda films like Reefer Madness to scare you off.

Part of the logic is that hemp looks like marijuana, so you could grow marijuana in the middle of a field of hemp and the narcs wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
