I really don't like sports. I think this is on account of me being traumatized by sports when I was a kid. One of my earliest memories is when I was 6 years old, walking on the playground at school, and out of nowhere, a kickball (I think it's actually called a medicine ball) came flying towards me. Next thing I know, I was knocked on the floor. I actually saw stars. Stars! ☆☆☆☆... Throughout my school years, I got hit by every ball imaginable. Basketball, soccer ball, tennis ball, even a badminton birdie. You name it, I've been hit with it. I hated P.E. The rougher the sport the teacher said the class was about to play, the more anxiety I had. It never failed. I always got hit. Then another memory that stands out is when I was a freshman in high school. I was actually excused from P.E. that day with a note for whatever reason but my very militant, total lesbian teacher, insisted I be the catcher for the soft ball game. Oh god. Needless to say, I got hit. And you know what, softballs are not soft by any means. This inflated version of a baseball, came rushing towards me at high speed and bashed me right on the ear. I had four earrings in each ear at the time. That's one on each cartilage, and three on each lobe. The pain was excruciating. My ear was throbbing and it was now 4 times it's size. The face on my teacher was saying "oh shit. I fucked up..shoulda let her sit out," but all she said was "Go to the nurses office..." Like I said, I really don't like sports. I despise sports. If I'm walking through a park and some kids are kicking around a soccer ball, my heart races and I stand far away. Far, far away. My hands automatically cradle my head if anyone is playing sports. I don't go to sporting events. I don't watch them on tv. If I try, I just zone out. My kids are watching the Kitten Bowl right now and this is good enough for me. I'm safe with cute, cuddly kittens. Why aren't you going to watch the Super bowl today?
I didn't know it was today. Also, I'm from another part of the world. 3rd reason: I don't like watching hours of sport neither. The only sport I can bear to watch (but not a whole season) is soccer, which is what we call football . But I dislike the big money so they don't get to make any off me.
I'm not watching because I HATE football. Here in the next half hour I get to play carpool mom and take my husband, brother in law and father in law to a friend's house to drop them off to watch the game. I'm taking them and picking them up because there will be plenty of beer involved today and I'm always the designated driver. I feel like I'm dropping my kids off for a playdate. Now that I think of it I do kind of feel like they are my kids....all the time. My 3 grown boys.
I'm definitely watching the Super Bowl today. I like sports but football is the only one I really follow. Being raised in Denver surely added to that.
The last thing I am ever going to do on my spare time is watch football. I feel more inclined to read or play music. T.V., especially sports, is such a mind numbing thing to me. I'll occasionally watch a good movie every now and then, but that's about it.
OMG thats horrible Rainy'...I don't blame you for reacting like that. I don't like being around drunk obnoxious people yelling inane shit at a big screen. I might watch a little, but football generally bores me after about 10 minutes.
I'm from Seattle and I'm not watching, because every time one of our sports teams makes it to the final I start watching and they end up losing.
OP....I'd hate to see what would have happened to you at a bowling alley. But seriously, that sounds like an awful experience. I'm sorry that happened to you. My experience was kind of the opposite. I excelled at sports when I was a kid....even though I too have been hit by plenty of balls. I played just about every sport available at one point or another. I'll be watching the game today. But I love football. I played it and coached it.
Actually, I enjoy bowling. Something about the ball being rolled on the floor that I'm fine with... it's more controlled, ha. I'm a very decent bowler. I even have my own bowling shoes.
I'm guessing you wouldn't go anywhere near a golf course....I saw an old guy get hit right behind the ear once, he was ok but extremely pissed off.
