    IMO
To be a Christian is what you all look forward to, that God will do with his cattle prod, to all those who aren't Christians.

So? Gain solace in the nonexistence of God or an Afterlife and hate no more.

You do not hate Christians. Christian are engaging in the sincere practice of looking for fulfillment.

You hate those who are too insecure to be happy with their current belief system, that they feel they need to justify it with as many follows as possible.

You hate those who use something that brings happiness to many, as an excuse to bring suffering to many.

I dislike anyone obsessed with their 'perfection' when compared to 'sinful' people. It just seems to be that more are christians than aren't.. for example one guy was hassling me constantly telling me that (as a jew) I'd burn in hell for killing jesus. I asked my christian friend to help me out, like talk one christian to another. His stance: "We are supposed to forgive them for their sins." Not "she didn't do that" or "leave her alone" or "you're being out of line" or anything like that. he just told the guy to forgive me so he could be a good christian. I don't know, since then it seems to me that many people just live in their own bubbles in which they look down on everyone else, and see everything in terms of how good they are in comaprison. It just seems egocentric. I think we should all help each other and not be so focussed on ourselves and our viewpoints..

All Christians aren't bad, I know some pretty groovy ones whom I get along with very well...

Christianity, on the other hand, is another story :p
I think its the bible-humping fundamentalists that you hate. Or maybe you're just one hate-filled bastard....

You should change that to false Christians. All those sterotypes out there are about false Christians.

It's not good to hate anyone. Hate binds you to the thing you hate and brings more suffering into the world. But unfortunately, many so-called Christians are full of it - for other religions, those they consider immoral etc.

No true follower of Jesus could really hate anyone.

Most of us think like that. It's just that Christians have special terminology for it.

i dont care for any religion for the same reason: they act as barriers (some are from this religion, some are from this one; why cant we all be the same? why the conflicts?), dont let people live at free will; why do you need to follow a religion to be a good person...why dont be a good person because it grows from within you naturally not cos the bible or whatever says so.

All religions are man made and the biggest mistake mankind has invented.

NEMISIS - Here's my take on religion vs. spiritually. (In my eyes there is no versus but I was going to say "and" but the relationship between the two would be less comparitive).

"The path to God are numerous as stars in the sky, rays from the sun or breaths from the sons of man."

    - Hindu saying, exact source unknown.

I believe that religion is part of this path for many.

For a great deal of people it's not, and I see that it's not part of your path at this point in time. I think that the journey to "God" or "enlightenment" or "truth" (or whatever you want to called it), consists of learning lifes lessons, and one way to learn these is to do things that you look back on in hindsight and wonder what on earth you were thinking.

Many will make the mistake of handing over their entire spiritual well being to the parish priest and not think for themselves, but remember these states are normally short lived and soon we all learn to overcome the states that are not beneficial and live in the states that are.

I know so many genuine seekers of truth who are doing hunky-dory within religion and it's not holding them back.

Religion is essencially ONE persons path, not everyones. Either that or a small group of peoples path. For example Christianity was primarily Jesus's and Paul's path, Buddhism was Siddhartha Gautama's, Islam was Mohammed's and so on.

Since everyone is different it would be very surprising if two peoples path are the same. The wise men and women who are the founding members of the religions taught that which they thought would apply to many, if not most people. There's much we can draw from, however there's much which we can't. I'm sure you would find a Kosha diet useless but for the nomadic (and early settled Israelites) their food was an important part of their diet, if they ate the wrong sort of food it could quite easily result in death.

I would be surprised if there weren't people who felt like religion was holding them back and became a free seeker. I would also be surprised if their weren't people who got to the end of their road within religion and felt satisfied.

Sincere religious people get as much from their path as you do from yours and I think you would feel pissed off if they were to tell you that your path is unfulfilling and worthless.

    Blessings

Actually, KC, the various sectarian conceptions of eternal damnation as a result of the slightest deviation from this or that outlined path, and the many consequent historical disasters that this has spurred could be said to be directly responsible for the kind of attitude displayed by this individual. Indeed, I fail to see a difference between his attitude and those of the people he hates.

On the same token, the lacksadaisical manner in which some people condone the atrocity of sectarian thought, without the slightest contest to the obvious bigotry involved, is equally repulsive to me.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I think a big problem is people don't understand what it means to "be a follower of Christ." You're supposed to follow in his footsteps, not to talk about Jesus, but to BE like Jesus. So many people are stuck on the letter of the law and miss the spirit.

    There is no God.!!!!!
As well as all religions, it's a man made concept.

Put it this way, if we were all triangles we would make our God 3 sided.

"The type of tailless simian who finds himself a mere forked radish in a universe of giants clamouring for hors d'oeuvres must take refuge from Reality in Freudian phantasies of 'God'. He winces at the touch of Truth; and shivers at his nakedness in Nature.
He therefore invents a cult of fear and shame, and makes it presumption and blasphemy to possess courage and self-respect. He burrows in the slime of "Reverence", and godly fear; and makes himself houses of his own excrement, like the earthworm he is. He shams dead, like other vile insects, at the approach of danger; he tries to escape notice by assuming the colour and form of his surroundings, using 'protective mimicry' like certain other invertebrates.

He exudes stink or ink like the skunk or the cuttle-fish, calling the one Morality and the other Decency. He is slippery with Hypocrisy, like a slug; and, ~labelling the totality of his defects Perfection, defines God as Faeces so that he may flatter himself with the epithet divine. The whole manoeuvre is described as Religion."
