Obviously this question only applies to the people in this situation?

For most people is it just caus its illegal or caus they see it as an evil drug? or percieve weed as being 'dumb'?

i smoked alot and i'll tell you why, because weed fucks with some peoples heads, it makes some (actually alot) of people anti -social and lazy and last of all weed unlike alcohol stay in your system for about 3 months!

the only "evil drug" is datura (just my opinion!)

I used to smoke up as a partying teen, but not since then.
Alcohol is legal, and available easily, and I don't feel like getting arrested.

It's not about really "staying away" from weed, it's that I would have to go look for it, and I don't go looking for trouble. ;)

    well, alcohol is less expensive

I dont get a feeling of paranoia with alcohol as you do with weed

you have to know some reputable dealers that wont fuck you over...

I just dont like the general feeling when I get high......

I dont like the way people act when they are high.......

I feel lazy and unmotivated, and never get anything done when smoking weed...

I feel like its a waste of time....

there are plenty of other things

I think some people stay away from alcohol and only smoke. Depends on the person and how they can handle their buzz.

I know people who don't even touch alcohol but they smoke.

I don't think a person who smokes as a teenager acts the same if they still smoke as an adult. The mind might be able to handle more as an adult. For some it just relaxes them. Doesn't mean they get lazy. Just takes the edge off. I see no harm in that. The only harm is that it is illegal. Except for those that have "permission" to smoke.

Think we will ever see the day when we don't need a perscription for it?

Here's another question...Does smoking weed age a person (wrinkles) like smoking ciggs does? Alcohol ages a person if you drink all the time. It changes a persons skin texture.

i prefer toking up than getting drunk and making an ass out of myself. alcohol makes a person all cocky and angry, while when your high you just lay back and chill. i hate fuckin people who get wasted and warn about the dangers of marijuana when alcohol is seriously the strongest drug known to man.

When I would smoke I would get active. I could clean the house, do yard work. I would feel productive. HOWEVER when I would smoke at night I'd chill.

Funny how it effects people differently.

I do not like being around a person who is drunk. Most become abnoxious and that just makes me so uncomfortable. I do like to drink a beer (almost every night) but that is basically it. If I drink more than that my stomach tells me "If you have one more I'm gonna clean the place out".

weed is boring? wow weed is like.. being stoned is.. it IS interest, for me. i get drunk when other people pay for the alchohol, i used to drink all the time. that was before i fell in love with cannabis, now i think alchohol is pretty lame, as with cigarettes, but ill buy (but not pay) for alchohol, and ill pay (but not buy) for cigarettes

its pretty simple for me - i dont' want to be thrown out of my school for weed, i'm paying 26000 a year, thats way too much money to be thrown out of school for something like weed. i could get in trouble for drinking, but i wouldn't get thrown out, so the risk level is lower.

however, when i'm not in or around my school, if the chance to smoke comes up, i'll take that person up on the offer. though, i will not be the person buying it or holding it at anytime unless were smoking. even when i'm home in boston, i could still get kicked out of school if i am arrested while in possession of weed...just for bringing discredit upon the university. so i have to be careful when i do smoke. but that doesn't mean i don't like to. its just that i dont' want to risk it right now, and alcohol is what i use right now. i'm trying to cut down on it cuz i spend way too much money on it.

I did alot of both. Also pretty much everything else I could get my hands on. But, that was a long time ago. I've been drug and alcohol free for almost 19 years.

I drink but don't do any pot.

I can't imagine sucking crap into my lungs. I've dealt with an entire family smoking for 19 years, it disgusts me. I don't know any good dealers, even if I did feel the urge to try it. I'm too lazy to make special brownies or pot cookies.

And it just doesn't seem like something that I, personally, need to try to make my life complete. Great for other people, just not me.

Besides, I'm a happy drunk. I get giggly, and sometimes flirty (but usually with other gals, since they're 'safe' - don't actually expect anything from me), but never violent or rowdy. Unless I'm in a pretty excited atmosphere, it makes me sleepy in short order.

I drink fairly regularly, usually two or three glasses of wine at night before bed, not every nigth but most. I smoke far less frequently, though as a general rule, I like to have some around the house. I like to smoke sometimes before I do something active like going skiing or canoeing. I also enjoy smoking while at a show. For about ten years I smoked every day, but around 25 I just cut down. It wasn't a decision like I need to smoke less, I just started to smoke less. These days I'd say I smoke probably twice a week, sometimes a little bit more, often times considerably less like only a few times a month.

To each their own. I will say that I've seen alcohol destroy far more people's lives than marijuana, so that makes it difficult for me to understand why alcohol is legal and pot is not.

i agree with that. i've known many alcoholics. i suppose one could argue that the very legality of alcohol is what makes it so easily abused, and the legalizing of pot would do the same. i don't really care, though. it's not my business. my husband used to be lord king stoner, but doesn't smoke it anymore. his parents were hippies. everyon epretty much laid off it when they realized they weren't doing anything with their lives. but dad and dave will occaisionally partake, to shut down their heads, you know?

some ov us (A) dont enjoy it, and (B) get drug tests for work. I love it when teenagers try to judge the rest of society because they have experienced everything and know the only way to think.

I have never actually spent anytime in jail for alcohol. 8 hours once on a public intox, but never any actual intake time. while my time I did spend for pot was negligible, it still is like 16 times as much as for alcohol.

The thing about alcohol is it does become very addictive over time. While pot does only a little.

I started drinking a lot after I joined the military because I couldn't do anything else anymore, and the army pretty much promotes alcohol use (just don't drive)
I just control my cravings when they hit, but nothing hits the spot like a good cold one after a long day at work. I make a good amount of dough, don't have any kids, and keep myself in good shape. I'll do what I damn well please.

I guess when I referred to destroying lives, I wasn't really referring to prison time. I guess if you look at it that way, yeah pot can be more destructive as it is illegal. I was mainly referring too medical/social destruction in life.

How often do you read, man 33 while high on marijuana beats wife. Issues like domestic violence and violence in general are far more common with alcohol consumption. Well, at least from what I perceive. I could be wrong.

I have been drunk many times and never hit another person. Dont get me wrong, I am pro-pot. I get anxiety/panic attacks when I smoke it. The fact I get drug tested is actually irrelevant, but I had 11 good years before it turned on me...but I was pretty borderline the whole time. ALWAYS one of those paranoid people.
