I suppose some people need the security that comes with a specified religion. Now to say that religion sucks is ignorant & it needs to be respected as another's choice. I'm an agnostic-Darwinist, however I can understand. Freud says that people invented the god form as to feel like they are still watched over even when they no longer live with their parents. Comfort in security. Others can just find comfort in generally not knowing & hoping they will get to know at some point.

I have no desire to attempt to convince anyone that there is some Spirit, or Higher Power, Guardian Angels, etc. But, I believe it, and the things I have seen in my life make it impossible for me not to. I have a hard time understanding how someone can be atheist, as it is impossible for me. But if it is true for another, then that belief is just as valid as mine, and just as real. And the miraculous things I have seen are real, at least they are to me. I believe in magic, miracles, prayer, Spirit, but not organized religions.
