i'm not into religion, but i would say it makes total sense to thank whatever there is that you are not starving when others are
Bullshit. Even when I believed in God I didn't thank him for my food. In fact, I refused to. He, from what I was to understand, doesn't intervene in our lives. Therefore, I earned my money to pay for my food. I spent my time and sacrificed so that I wouldn't be starving like those other people? Thank god? No thanks.
I believe in God. I don't believe in religion. How can anyone NOT believe there is some higher power? I pity the people who don't. God and religion are two different things. Religion takes people away from God.
Simple, challenged and cast off as bullshit when I looked for it, & it was nowhere to be found...Not even in my dreams.
How can anyone look at the complexity of human emotion and the beauty of nature and think it was simply just a freak occurance? What God is is unknown. God is simply the generic name for the divine spirit that lives within us all. God is not in the Bible, Talmud, or the Q'uran, and it's the religions which were created to divide us and take us away from God. Religion is the creation of humans with agendas. God didn't create religion. Unfortunately, because of people's brainwashing, just the word God has a negative meaning to some people, which is just sad. God is not religion. Religion is not God.
BTW, I think lots of your posts up in the political section are dead on. No need to act like an asshole down here, even if I am infuriating in my disbelief.
I'm an atheist, but I certainly understand people being grateful for the oppurtunity to have food. There are parts of the world where no amount of 'hard work' will keep you fed. People live in abject hunger and poverty, so we should not only be grateful for what we have, but try to find a way to share with people who need it.
