Why do people care about gay issues?

Often we have to say where we stand in gay issues.
Cant we simply not care?

If my children would turn gay I wouldnt care one bit. If gays would be jailed for being gay I wouldnt care either.

Do you have to have an opinion positive or negative?

Who cares if 2 grown people of the same sex fucks, why is it even an issue that you have to accept or be against?

Anyway, I have no problem with neutrality and I don't know anybody that does.

I wrote it wrong i fixed it, If people would be jailed, not be able to have certain jobs for being gay et c, I wouldnt care one single bit, cause Im not pro gay.

If my children would be born gay, or if half the world would be gay would be gays, I eouldnt care either.

I dont see why people are so obsessed with the issue!

Who cares about gay adoption, gay marrige, sodomi being illegal in texas et c.? Why care?

ok well if people where jailed for being gay thats called being prejudice and being antigay and it would be hurting people that have done nothing wrong.

does this really have to be explained to you, would you like to be jailed for the colour of your eyes, or would it not bother you because your not pro eye colour?
sounds stupid doesn't it, well so does jailing people because they are gay.

if prejudice is going on and you just don't care you are as bad as the people that are being prejudice

Im not a good person if that is what you are asking? And I am racit towards red haired people. Cartman puts it out good, They are born that way cause they have no soul, I agree.

Why do you force opinions on people, why are you demanding us to be pro or against gays? Why cant people be left alone?

This is much like politics, some people are liberal others conservative, and then there are people that dont care, and dont want to have an opinion.
Why cant the gay stand be like that?

if you want to not care, I don't think anyones stopping you, however by insisting that everyone doesn't care, your doing what you say you don't like, namely forcing your views onto other people.
you get on with not caring its not difficult to avoid issues and let everyone else get on with what they want to do

when one of us is treated unfairly, it's an insult to ALL of us. my sexuality has never affected my life, positively or negatively, i blend in. but seeing my friends denied their rights, denied their dignity, denied respect over something so assinine as you don't like who they sleep with, that's injustice. i'm no more okay with that than i am with people being treated unfairly for the color of their skin. in a perfect world, none of this would matter, but it's not a perfect world, and there ARE issues to care about and deal with from every perspective, lifestyle and philosophy.

and for you to put blinders on for the simple fact that you find it a nuisance is not only naive in the extreme, but flagrant laziness.

I think that if everyone in this world was like Aladdin and didn't care, the world would be a better place. If nobody cared if someone was gay then they wouldn't care if they got married, adopted, etc. There'd be no reason to treat GLBT people unfairly because it wouldn't even be an issue.

Unfortunately some people do have a problem with homosexuality for various reasons. If we don't take a stand then we get sent to the gallows. Sure we would try to cover it up but it will only result in an unhappy life. I'd rather die than be forced to live a lie and I might as well die fighting for equality.

Nobody is asking you to join the fight, and why should you? It doesn't affect you, not yet at least. You said you wouldn't care if your children were gay. That's great to hear. How would you feel if your children were being mistreated or abused because of something so insignifigant. Think about it for a moment. It may not affect you directly but it may affect the lives of those you care about.

 

If it would ever happen I would be the first one signing the petition.

But right now, I coudlnt care less, I know gay people I'm not close to any. At least what I know.

 

this thread doesn't really make a lot of sense to me.

someone who doesn't care about gay issues, but cares enough about not caring to start a thread about not caring in a gay community.

does anyone else find that a bit odd?

Yeah, what about 'em? They're not forcing you to watch or read, and they're definitely not 'forcing' you to have a stance.

Isn't that a bit like saying "I don't care if they lock blonde people up because I don't know any blonde people, but on the other hand I wouldn't mind if my kids dyed their hair blonde?" I don't mean you have to have an opinion one way or the other necessarily, I'm just kinda confused about the way you say it. It doesn't make sense to me.

Couldn't agree more. No one is telling you to have a stance, but when you go out of your way to say this in a gay forum, aren't you kinda trying to force your opinions on us? I think you're worthy of the label "hypocrite."
