Don't get me wrong here. Marijuana is a beautiful plant, it opens your mind, relaxes you and can help some people sleep easier, but as much as i'd love to see it legalized I don't think it should be.

Why? why in gods name shouldn't it be you might ask?
One reason, look at tobacco. Do you trust corporations? Because i'll tell you what would happen.
They would ruin it, they would turn it into a monster by making it more addictive, they might reduce the length of the high too to make you smoke more, not to mention what other effects could come along with it.

I'm sure the big time dealers and growers of today will start their own mini-businesses and will most likely keep their product high quality.

my point is that you know they would do it, bud doesn't destroy lives and it doesn't need to. money has corrupted alot it doesn't need to corrupt this.

it doesn't need to be corrupted because the best thing you can do is grow your own. it doesn't take much time to care for it and the result is pride in your own smoke, the relaxation that comes along with gardening and it's fresh. if it were legal, i don't know why anyone wouldn't grow their own.

Did you guys know that a couple hundred years ago it was illegal in the USA
    to NOT grow hemp?

I don't know the circumstances, but many citizens were required by law to grow ganja.

you can get a cannabis card in california and smoke in some of the clubs.
you can also choose what kind of bud you want to buy.
    it's amazing.
    not quite coffeeshop amsterdam status
    but it's still wonderful.

I think that was in England because they wanted rope fibers for the sails of their fleet.

During WWII, America had Hemp propaganda films stating that you're a true american if you grow hemp.

Anyway, I have no worry about marijuana being messed with. If companies somehow add stuff to their weed to make it addictive, weed smokers will just stop buying from those companies, grow their own, and sell to their neighbors... or better yet, start their own business that promises quality.

Weed companies would almost be forced to offer quality - Offer quality, or fail as a business.

Companies that offer different varieties, sell pre-rolled joints, with possible add-on gimmicks, would do very well.

Weed being legal would be so great... just goto a liquor store and pick up your favorite variety from your favorite brand, and I bet they would be cheap, too.

I understand how some people can enjoy growing their own, but many won't, and would find that to be a huge hassle. It would be much easier for most people just to go buy a pack. Imagine never having to worry about: being arrested, getting crap quality weed with all sorts of chemicals on it, and not knowing where you're getting more weed. Just goto a store, or buy it online... so simple.

back before i started smokeing wich was about 4 months ago.i didnt care either way if it was legal or not.i grew up around my parents and other people doing all kinds of drugs.but the only one that i seen people use and not cause them to beg borrow and steal to get it was weed.didnt bother me if someone smoked it around me either.hell i didnt care if they smoked it in my truck, just dont blow the smoke in my face.it would be nice if it was legal,i wouldnt have to worry about taking my bussiness truck to the dealer to get it.and hell ya id be growing a freekin field of it.keep it illegal,im still gonna buy and smoke it.i get more medicinal value from it then i do the psycho pills the doctors give me.

sure when i pop a pill my problems go away but when the pills wear off the problems come right back but 10 times worse.i smoke a little weed and the problem disappears for an hour or 2 and then it slowly comes back.as the problems slowly come back to me i can deal with it at my own pace and get over it on my own without forgetting about it but instead learning to deal with it.

what zeppelin said makes a lot more sense, not trying to call on bullshit it just didn't seem likely that we would just make everyone grow bud.
i'd like to keep this thread on-topic though please.

It wasn't ganja in the same sense as it is today. Hemp was something used specifically for cloth and clothing, nothing more.

Back to the topic though. As the other said, it wouldnt matter if they fucked with the the weed because people would just buy from private parties and local grow shops.

lmao yes hemp, not marijuana. Hemp used to be the biggest gdp in the u.s. back in the day. Not marijuana though. How dumb lol

Anywho I think the govt wants it to be illegal forever. All the money from jails, tickets, fines, all the employees and judges, all the shopes that sell products related. The economy is based upon drug users and if something is changed radical formations occur. I can just see it now that it would be taxed like none other, and random car searches would be inevitable, if you had a license you were fine but if you didnt im sure they would go way harder then.

marijuana is illegal because of racism, the government does not want to legalize anything that is already illegal, that makes them look bad. if the tobacco companies do have the right to sell it, your right, it will be shitty weed filled with all sorts of chemicals, addictive and not. theres rumors that Marlboro cigarette company already has marijuana fields waiting to be harvested as soon as its legal.

the tobacco companies give to much money to the government which gives little pressure to legalize it, most politicians just ignore the subject, and the ones who support it dont have much say at all.

it wont be fully legal anytime soon and will defiantly never be able to be freely sold in america. the best we'll get is the ability to have medical marijuana, period. as much evil as probation causes, its still a drug in the governments eyes.

America's first marijuana law was enacted at Jamestown Colony, Virginia in 1619. It was a law "ordering" all farmers to grow Indian hempseed. There were several other "must grow" laws over the next 200 years (you could be jailed for not growing hemp during times of shortage in Virginia between 1763 and 1767), and during most of that time, hemp was legal tender (you could even pay your taxes with hemp -- try that today!) Hemp was such a critical crop for a number of purposes (including essential war requirements - rope, etc.) that the government went out of its way to encourage growth.

no, and I don't plan on it.
most the cops around here don't really care about that stuff and half of them smoke anyway, besides we have a huge meth and crystal meth problem that they are alot more worried about.

i've had close calls but I don't think it's a big deal so I don't act like a dumbass so they don't get suspicious.

in big cities there are those good wanna save the day super hero cops though..
    ugh.
Not all cops are pigs though, my old buddy was caught with a 30 sack when they searched him and he just kept looking like it was nothing.
    because it is nothing
    just a plant..
