Why are we so plastic?

Almost every single person I met likes to be aesthetically pleased by the appearance of other people.
And almost every single person I met loves to get compliments about the way they look.

Every single person on RT is completely focused on the way they look and they treat other posters differently when they have photographs on their gallery. Especially when they look 'good' according to the current standards.

This bothers me infinitely. Are we so dumbed down by television and magazines that we have stooped down to the level of peacocks?

Hereby I challenge everyone to delete any photograph of themselves from their galleries. And their signatures.
I bet 99% of the people here do not want to do that for aforementioned reasons.
