After personally trying many of the illegal plants myself, I have always questioned why these "drugs" are looked so negatively upon. I have devised my own theory as to why this is and would like to hear what everyone elses opinions are on this subject. My theory is as follows: These plants have been here just as long as the human race has been on this earth. Early humans must have stumbled upon mushrooms growing upon the dung of the cattle that they followed around. They must have also have been trying each and every plant they came across to try and find a purpose for it and must have discovered the effects of cannabis, poppies, and other psycoactive plants. From my experience, these plants allow you to transcend this reality and uncover hidden mysteries within yourself, without needing any certain belief. In my research, most religious texts such as the rig veda and early gnostic texts describe the use of certain plants to "commune with the gods" to a point, depending on set and setting that Leary speaks of. These plants are a very powerful tools/medicines and we have been using them for centuries. However recently, religious and governmental pressures have driven this knowledge underground and to the point that your locked up for using them. The point I'm making is that these plants are so powerful and sacred that our moden athoritarian figures feel incredibly threatened by their powers and will go to any length to keep people from using these tools. I have not fully developed this theory as I am also learning new things about our past as plant/drug using beings. I'm not sure if I'm just crazy or what, so please nit-pick at will! I would love to hear your intelligent remarks thanks.
Some people think they have the right to tell you how to be happy/healthy is why most prohibition exists. Things stay illegal if theres more money in it for the "powers that be" than giving that freedom back to the individuals. IMHO
I just believe there has never been a separation of church and state... dating back to the Romans and before possibly.
The CIA ships in the majority of the drugs (primarily cocaine and heroin), makes money off of the drugs to fund black budget projects, then arrests the lower level people and puts them in jail where they become part of the prison economy. Think about it, most of the people in jail are there for drug offenses. So it's a win-win situation for the government.
I'm just so confused as to why the major religions would suppress the fact that they would use these intoxicants in religious rituals and initiations into the higher mysteries? Are they SO powerful that the churches will feel that they will lose the stranglehold that they have on our bodies and minds?
i was thinking something like that. critical thinking is probably the last thing churches want people doing
I HAVE THE ANSWER!!!!!!!!!! The real reason marijuana and many other natural plants are illegal in the US is because the government makes more money busting asses, collecting fines, impounding cars, taking houses people grow in, taking property people grow on... If it was legal everyone would just grow their own and legally and that means less money for those bullshitting politicians..
Well. maybe something like this... The "church"/religion was once the way to enlightenment, and it was not separate from government... as time went on the government gained power and separated from religion... then the gov gained control over religion... meanwhile the gov was growing and expanding becoming spread out and on to even the smallest cracks... And before you know it the gov is wearing a mask with a relatively happy face drawn on the mask... because now the gov fully had the church in its hands, and itself the gov supplied the means of enlightenment to the ppl in order to have full control over the effect...(but under that mask is pure insanity)... So now the gov in order to fulfill its desires fully controlled the ppl, while the ppl thought that they were completely acting on their own, rebelling on their own will, making choices on their own, while the real unmasked gov was pulling the strings.... To overjoke the joker... well in basic terms... Reverse psychology, the gov says ITs bad so we focus on IT, IT stands out from the crowd... And thus the gov gets what it wants... ah sorry for that being so messy...heh...kinda ran allover the place there...
It is stupid, listen to this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38ma-nUmySo I only wish more people were able to get his message. Search for him on youtube and listen to all his ideas they are amazing
jesus blew blunts and salvia * possibly * drugs are illegal because you cant market something that isn't addictive. now pills alcohol and cigs they aren't addictive * laff * and u cant make money off something that can be easily produced for personal use and sell it for a high price like it goes for now
Yeah because illegal drugs like meth, crack cocaine, cocaine, heroine, Ice (any sort of gear really), opium, etc. arent addictive at all
banning the mere possession of anything is done for one and only one reason and that is to create opportunities to abuse and sabotage whatever legal system might happen to exist. good arguments can of course be made for not permitting the belligerantly inclined to empare their judgement in public. but translating this into banning the possession of any artical or substance is a conclusion that doesn't fallow its premmiss. and even if it did, still creates opportunities for judicial abuse. (generaly for the convenience of very slanted and self serving politics, but non the less, creates opportunities beyond that for anyone wishing vendetta on anyone for ANY reason as well) =^^= .../\...

Kyndbud have you read Graham Hancocks " Supernatural: Meetings with the Ancient Teachers of Mankind" he has very similar theories to yours, personally I believe 100 % that natural drugs have been made illegal to enslave our minds, hallucinogens are but one of a few means by wich we have access to higher realms though some drugs, especailly the man-made have the same effect in terms of enslaving the people, they becoming cheaper by the day and the powers that be have been intentionally flooding third world countries with this trash to further numb the minds of the youth, In South Africa we have a huge problem with 'tik-tik', which is 80 % rat poison, even though they know it, most users dont care, its cheap, easily available and a means for them to forget about thier incredibly crappy lives
Nope your wrong except for pressing rat. the two solid reasons drugs are illegal- One is the goverment wants to try to keep people poor and keep the rich rich and not let the poor move up to a respectable level in society where there ideas which are much different from the rich would have a long lasting effect on the way the country runs this is also why we have wars to waste money in the economy. The drug trade is booming right now and its taking money right out of poor peoples hands and putting it right into the hands of the U.S. goverment as pressed rat said most the herione and cocaine in this country is manufactured and shipped by the goverment. The second reason drugs are illegal is because the goverment needs a certain group of hardcore radicals in jail for fear that if they were not in jail these "real" people would have more influence on society and therefore putting oppresion on our right wing facist state. If you read and fully understood my post you should understand by keeping drugs illegal the goverment is KILLING 3 BIRDS WITH ONE STONE. open your eyes people-
Drugs are illegal firstly to push people with criminal tendencies into one area-shooting each other rather than causing revolution , destabilising the financial system or kidnapping politicians. Why is organised crime so glamorous on TV whereas real life gangsters tend to be SOOOOOOOOOO much more low profile? Real life gangsters meet in motorway cafes and shitty pubs , but on the TV its always at a five star hotel overlooking Tower Bridge in London. Secondly , this is 60s related.Drugs give u an "alternative life"- like the "drop out culture" .If youre motivated by peace ,communal homebuilding , love , music , free love and acid , then you dont want that Ferrari , or that nice 4 bed house next to the park- and you cant be worked like a bitch ( controlled)by the establishment. With an alternative society , maybe we would eventually have no need for an establishment and its financial restraints Sure , the establishment also makes money by having drugs as an illegal product , but it makes its money in lots of ways. The other point is , that insecure / unhappy or downtrodden people are made to feel a need to abuse drugs. And their illegality makes them more "fun" yet theres no glamour in sniffing aerosol cans. If we took out the diseased aspects of society- poverty , greed , boredom , materialist obsession etc ( largely from the establishments mismanagement)we 'd stop the danger of drug misuse.- drug use would be more sensible.
That is some of the smartest shit Ive ever heard. Did you come up with that yourself? I always went with the gov't not being able to tax it but yours is way more detailed and probably the most accurate of any of the theories out there.
