Who brought sin and death to the earth? Man, Satan or God? Adam and Eve have been blamed for bringing both sin and death to the earth. I have a hard time agreeing with that view. On sin. Some believe that Eve was first to sin when she ate of the tree of knowledge. Some say Adam because Eve was deceived. I see that as the second command ignored as God told A & E to reproduce in Gen 1 and that command was completely ignored. I believe that Satan or the talking snake may have sinned first because to tempt someone to sin makes the tempter culpable and not the one deceived. Satan first or God thanks to what I say below I also believe that that God also sinned before A & E did, through omission, as many of the consequences and benefits of eating of the tree of knowledge were withheld from A & E by God. That is easily demonstrable. Count them and see that of the many, God only spoke of one and omitted the rest. ------------------------------------- On death. Adam is said to have brought death to the earth through his sin but as shown above he was likely not the first sinner. The first death that the bible speaks of is when God kills animals to make clothes for A & E. The next death is done by God of A & E by locking away the tree of life. It appears that God himself brought death to the earth. --------------------------------------- Who do you think the first sinner was and who do you see as the first killer? Regards DL
As it would appear God sinned first. I dont think God can sin though because sin is the act of violating God's will. Sin can also be viewed as anything that violates the ideal relationship between an individual and God; so really the only sin I believe in is greed/coveting because being attached to material possessions turns your back on God and your path to find him.
It is said that intelligent people can discuss what they do not believe. Even imaginary scenarios. What impression does the bible give you in terms of the O P? Regards DL
gnostics were in the beginning , and those who persecuted gnostics sinned first . after that , gnostics invented the anti-hero .
The Gnostics were persecuted by the Christian Church that Constantine bought so that would make them the first sinners but your time line is off a bit I think. What lead you to put Gnostics in the beginning? Link it if you can but that is news to me. Regards DL
As usually defined, I agree. Thanks for showing me your position. Gnostic Christians like myself define God as natural and not supernatural and our focus is good morals and not salvation that forces us to accept the immorality of bible God. Regards DL
He was called to sin by the determination of Vocation from the Godhead. But this all knowable in History, a hind-site Christians have a comfort to test by Economics. Just a concept of God; God was really different than that. He should forgive me too.
I always preferred the Islamic story where God told the angels to bow before Adam, and Iblis (Satan) was the only one who refused. It makes Satan strangely sympathetic (and long before Milton). If I were a djinn I would feel pretty bad bowing before a creature made of mud, just sayin'.
No chance for this absentminded type but it would not surprised as we can access it from conception. There is no proof of this though. We should try to stick with the provable as much as possible as woo is hard to digest for most. I may see what we are speaking of as natural but most throw it into the supernatural. To live in a natural world and rely on the supernatural for one's theology is ridiculous from MPOV. I thank the Gods that Gnostic Christians like myself have never had to. Regards DL
last summer a child of the forest came to play with me for a little while . all he ever said was what he said before bounding away - " woo " . i see in the gnostic bible some language that is presented as untranslatable . it's something like this : AAAEEEEE O . the publisher's commentary notes it as holy prayer language .
I started laughing at the absurdity of this last time my family dragged me to church. I don't believe this ever happened, but let's just talk like it did, for a second. Okay, so we're given so-called free will but we're not allowed intelligence, which amounts to free thought, until we eat of this supposed tree of knowledge. Then, oh no! they ate an apple! ...they're horrified because they realized they're nude, as if it were the most immoral thing in the world, and banished from heaven because they're smart, supposedly bringing pain, death, and suffering down on human kind and the world. Hell, the snake fucking saved us and gave us free thought/free will. I'm not satanic, but I would like to point out the irony. I could go on, but I think I'd veer off topic.
