The media survives by feeding the fears of the uneducated masses ,they buy into the hype and are blinded by the lies the media spreads which is stopping people seeing what is really going in the world . As to whom owns it thats the shareholders but who controls it is where the problem is , we are fed bits of disinformation daily , given part of truth never all of it and anything that they deem that we should not know they omit it .
True...I worked for one of the giants for a few years and although I made more money than I should have, with stock options, salary, and bonus, I still disliked the coprorate oversight and culture, and made a move back to small business when the chance presented itself. The pressure to cut expenses and raise revenue was relentless...constant...literally had to do daily reports to headquarters. Our CEO once told me (and many others in a group meeting) that we should vote for George W. Bush because he was better for our industry than Al Gore. One additional point...in addition to stockholders, the corporate officers make huge bonuses (millions) based on profitabliity.
