Liars will lie to everyone because they don't have to answer to them.

But more rare is the people who can tell anyone to their face that they don't care about them. This however inadvertently is giving undue respect to the victim of the disrespect by telling them the truth.

    Paradox?

Liars are cooler than people who tell the truth.

Not saying if I lied or spoke the truth.

people who excersize discretion over what they say, think about the consequences of words, recognise how appropriate certain things are to say in certain contexts. are neither slaves to the truth nor pathological liars, but excersize judgement based on a moral code.

people who say things like "i just call it as i see it" tend, in my experience, to be arseholes.

I can see and agree with your sentiments absolutely.
The pinnochio crew and the "telling it as it is brigade" are nearly always exactly the same people ie dysfunctional, vicious, insincere creeps.

The "call it as I see it" antics are just another type of the spin the liar would use. I've seen it in lots of places, inc this joint. What these people don't realise is that while they might be Machiavelian, they are usually so dim that whatever shit they do will end up coming back to them. Ultimately, the only people who can stomach them, are those who are just as fucked up as they are.. : -/

I don't think there is necessarily a correlation between coolness and truth telling.

The liar might be considered "cool" by the gullible - until they are found out.

And the acidic "tell it as it is" slimeball/skank might be considered "cool" by likeminded halfwits/nutters.

But in reality, both are pretty pathetic, IMO.

I dunno. I've known plenty of people who are fun to be around and interesting, but they are liars so I don't trust them much.

And a number of very honest people who are douche bags or decidedly uncool.

Seeing as I'm a fairly uncool, but honest person, I'd probably be saying whatever I felt was true about you.

Very often I've found that the one who claims to be "telling it as it is", is infact the biggest liar of them all.

Coolness is only ever a perception tho. I mean Coca cola is perceived to be a very "cool" company in most countries. But I remember when they tried to sell filtered tap water as equivalent to mineral water. Their bullshit and spin had been found out, and the product (Dasani) was removed from the British market. Dasani wasn't considered cool, just the product of arrogant devious corporate rats.

To me, what is cool is being genuine, sincere, with values and of good will. If someone is devious, insincere, dishonest or just acid tongued, they aren't worth the time of day. No matter how many people they might fool, IMO.

Some people are charming and ostensibly fun to try and get what they want. They might market themselves like Dasani. But once they are found out, I think they're as cool as a suit covered in dogshit. Sometimes it takes time to find out if someone is cool, or just fake shit like Dasani.

I've known/seen a few people who start off seeming cool or fun. But I know they aren't worth a second of my time.

Unfortunately wasn't able to get to St Pauls for the funeral in the morning, as I had a prior engagement.

However, I WAS able to mark the occasion with the requisite level of sombreness later in the day.

This involved going to the pub with a life size inflatable skeleton, with a ginger wig, and a blue dress. (For the skeleton, not me).

Sadly some Young Conservatives didn't quite embrace the moment when we started singing the rework of that old football song. Which had the chorus "Maggie is Back, Maggie is Back..."

Were you in Sheffield after the funeral? I hear that was Party-Central.
Or Harrogate, which I understand wasn't quite as buzzing... :-/
