if you wanna believe the numbers, Bush was the first president to have over 50 million people vote against him.

The voters who voted against Kerry (not necessarily FOR Bush) were tripped by one or the other "moral issues"

    - the belief that Kerry would have supported the baby holocaust (stem cell research, abortion)

    - the belief that Kerry would have destroyed the sanctity of marraige (by letting the gayers do it)

    - Y'aint takin ma guns!

    etc.

It was hardly FOR Bush. There aren't THAT many Halliburton employees.

the "numbers" also showed that votes that went to minor party candidates weren't enough to beat Bush had they gone to Kerry.

can't blame Ralph for this one.

alot of republicans mindlessly pull the republican lever..voting republican accross the board no matter who is running

most of the people who voted for bush probably cant read, so i doubt anyone here could say they did..or else theyre too ashamed to admit it
with the few exceptions of those who always vote for whoever mentions god the most often
if you ran for president & your whole campaine was based on "god wants me to destroy the world" as long as you mention god in every sentence the mindless right wing would vote for you

There's something very comforting about there being a right, and a wrong, a good, and a bad - a black hat and a white hat. You don't have to think too hard, sign up for this team and whatever you do will be right.

It's a failing of both the left wing and the right wing.

wow you're ignorant. 51% is not a landslide. obama won by a landslide. something like 94%. so 51% of the amerikkkan voting population is moronic. you'd think it would have been more than that. you've honestly never seen a "w '04" bumper sticker? or a "bush cheney" one?

    i don't know and i don't care

honestly, there is nothign wrong with being ignorant on a subject, im ignorant on many subjects...but its when people get apathetic and arrogent...then you can lay a strip in them

It is arguable that wisdom is realizing and accepting your own ignorance.

Here is an idea to toss around.

Most of this board was either born after the fall of the Berlin Wall (and more importantly the collapse of the Soviet Union) or too young to remember it, which means your entire world-view is coloured by the US being the sole superpower. Since it is the only thing you have ever known, it's awfully hard to imagine anything different. But Americans are not innately better than any other people.

And without a steady supply of oil, you would be no different than any other third-world country. Bush knows this; thus all the debacles with Iraq, Afghanistan, and Chavez. He is trying to keep America on top - something which I assume most Americans take for granted, but shouldn't.

Necessity and Morality seldom go together.
