Ağrı: Ağrı - Wikipedia Ardahan: Ardahan - Wikipedia Muş: Muş - Wikipedia Bitlis: Bitlis - Wikipedia Tunceli: Tunceli - Wikipedia Batman: Batman, Turkey - Wikipedia Or boring İstanbul climate? Istanbul - Wikipedia
The last one seems truely out of place amongs those continental climates. But some people may prefer a boring climate. Thats why I put the boring istanbul climate among them. Lol. From the list above, I pick Ağrı myself for its continentality. Acutally I cannot show everywhere I wanna show because met office publishes long term averages for provincial capitals ( one spot in one province) District municipalities dont publish long term averages. Where I go in winter for instance is colder than "Ardahan" and "Ağrı" but it is a district municipality and long term official averages are not available.
Ağrı: has a very strong continental climate with cold winters followed by summers with hot highs. Ardahan: has less continentaly with slightly colder averages than Ağrı but it is continental enough. Muş: has a great 4 season combination for both cold lovers and heat lovers due to its extreme continentality. Bitlis: has a continental climate with tons of snow because of very wet winters. It gets more snow than most people would like but it can be great for snow lovers. Tunceli: has a strong continental climate with warmer temperatures throughout the year for people that want less cold. Batman: has a strong continental climate with very hot summers and cool winters. Warmer version of Tunceli temperature-wise. Istanbul: It is a sea coast place with a boring oceanic climate, which is for people who dont appreciate the continentaly of a climate. Some people will want their climates to be boring. Let's leave one boring climate in the list
Above, I meant slightly colder winter averages. I forgot to write the word winter above. It sucks that we cannot edit our posts on the forum.
I dont like extreme climate at all I would be happy if the temp just fluctuated between 58f and 78 f year round
Boring? All are continental climates except Istanbul. How are they boring? There are great temperature difference between summer and winter in all those climates.
What city is the coldest one? I don't want have to open links to find out. It would have taken less time to type it than link it tbh. >.> Im much more suited to the cold personally, as in my body seems to like it, it's not always like, what I think.. I might think 15*C is gorgeous but my bodies telling me it wants 24C But truth is I sweat a lot when it's warm, and not just like... Oh a little bit of sweat nooooo my skin likes to belt it, mostly around my shoulders and my forehead. I've been taught that it's my body's natural Defense mechanism for when it needs to cool down... Well if it needs to cool down at 18*, how am I supposed to be comfortable in summer. I live in an interesting area of Alpine lands where we are easily high enough for snow, which is does steadily throughout winter, but we also shielded by our mountains from morning and afternoon sun as the sun disappears behind the Alps and it gets dark quickly. We are subject to ice cold winds from the Alps too, and the town faces a valley that runs between mountains, and wind likes to travel this channel straight to us. Winters may plummet to -25c on our worst winter days, but a fresh winter day under the right circumstance can be -4 to 12C, gorgeous clear skies. But the day will never last like this as the winds shift from the Alps in the afternoons and cloud rolls in. In summer we can get upwards of 30C and lows of 12C at its best circumstance where I think this year we averaged 8C to 25C. We get a LOT of rain in the warmer months. Not so much like, constant downpours, but steady showers throughout most days. It can make the Air sticky and humid, but thankfully our altitude pulls it away quickly. In both winter and summer, you can never predict when the wave will happen. At the moment we have had no snow in town, and it hasn't been very cold at all, but that can change outta nowhere tomorrow and it may just snap into freezing winter. Summer also does this, you think winter is lasting then boom one sunny warm day, it's hot for months.
All those climates I put are very colourful climates. You can skip Istanbul since I put it as a joke among those continental climates
They are all wow climates above except Istanbul, which I put as a joke among them. If you want cold winters, then both Ağrı and Ardahan ( first 2 in the list). If you want maxiumum snow, then Bitlis.
Its not the climate that is the problem, but since Turkey is a moslem country, they tend to call the faithful to prayer very early in the morning and then thoughout the morning, with sodding great electric speakers festooning the minarets.
The only thing I like about Turkey is the climate variety. I like nothing else about Turkey. You can find extreme cold winters and extreme hot summers here. Above, these places are provincial capitals since met office publish long term averages for provincial capitals. Long term averages of district municipalities are not available. Considering even Ardahan ( provincial capital) had an average low of -17°C in January, the place I go to in the same province is a higher elavated and colder district for instance. Where I go in winter would average a low of -20°C in January.
