different states have different ways of handling drugs. in Texas, you can go to jail for less than an ounce, whereas in New York you'd just get a fine.

When you say jail do you mean a prison sentence or just an over night stay why you are processed.

Here, if it is less than a few joints they'll usually just throw it away, no fine, depending on the cop. Ohio is decriminalized. It takes an excess of 100 grams (nearly 4 ounces) to get any jail time here.

The harshest state I would say is Hell's Pit: New Jersey. Florida, Texas, and Georgia (I think) are also dickheads. Mainly southeastern states.

How would possesion of a schedule1 drug be treated in ohio.In the uk for a first offence you would get a caution this is basically something where the charge would sit on record for five years then be scrapped off your record. There would be no court apperance or any fine.

All depends what the cop feels like doing in that particular situation. If hes havin a bad day, he might take his anger out on some harmless stoners, if hes having a good day he might cut em some slack. Thats just my opinion.

    Pretty harsh...

'cause in America, we kill children and are brainwashed by a middle-eastern controlled news media...

    for pennsylvania, it says:
Possession of 30 grams or less of marijuana is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a fine of up to $500. The penalties for possession of greater than 30 grams increase to a possible one year in prison and a fine up to $5,000.

i've had friends caught with weed before though and didn't go to jail, i think just probation.. so yeah its whatever the cops feel like doing, and how nice they are etc.

Most people here never get much. A friend of mine got busted with a little over a half pound a few years ago and he barely even got probation. Meanwhile the kid who was with him at the time might go to prison because of it... but that was only cuz he never went to high school, doesn't do his minimal community service, and has pissed dirty on every drug test they've given him.

The worst thing I've ever heard happened in Atlanta. I read in Cannabis Culture that some seventeen year old black kid in Atlanta got busted for an armed robbery that totaled 5 bucks or something. About a month into his probation, he tested positive for weed and got sentenced to life in prison. They said he might get out though because some news program ran a segment that compared his sentence to some white kid who never even went to prison and was in the same exact situation.

Jersey's pretty bad. You can check out the norml site to see specific laws and whatnot...and i've looked into both NJ and Fla (may be moving there) and both states really suck.

I think you only have to worry about going to jail for weed if you're black or have a whole lot of it. Everyone I know has always either had probation, a fine, and/or community service. I know somebody who got caught with a half pound in New York and only got probation.

you need to brush up on your laws..

    tennessee
Possession Any Amount misdemeanor up to 1 year and or $2,500 fine

First convictions for any misdemeanor has a mandatory minimum fine of $250. Second convictions $500, and subsequent convictions, $1,000.

my guess is you would have to have over a qp to do any time in tennessee...

Better check out the Federal laws, too. Some have mandatory minimums = no parole. A kid I went to college with got caught with a joint in around 1970 and got six years Federal time. He had to pull every day of it. He was pretty permanently bitter when he got out.

Less than 1 oz misdemeanor 6 months $1,000
Paraphernalia possession misdemeanor 6 months $1,000
