Do you exercise a lot? I didn't have mine for over 6months, and a friend of mine didn't have hers for almost a year. We both run a lot and exericise to.

Have you suddenly lost a load of weight?

If you lose about 10% of your body weight then your periods stop because your brain thinks your body is no longer capable of carrying a child...Hopefully they'll come back though...

-edit...they should make this isnto a film:

    Dude: WHere's my period??? -

Being vegan wouldn't have anything to do with it. Go have your ovaries scanned and checked for Polycystic Ovaries. If you do have PCOS, then your doctor will probably tell you you need to eat more meat and less carbs..... don't believe him!!!!!! There are many much more healthier solutions!

    not true.

If they are not eating right it could have everything to do with being vegan. I would suggest buying a book on becoming vegan to make sure you are getting all of the nutrients you need. You could also see a nutritionist.

my period's disappeared too....not that it's ever been regular though. it might also have something to do with my current running mileage (25+ miles/week). i've only been vegetarian for a couple of months now, but really think it's actually had a positive impact on my running....forces me to be extra careful to eat a balanced diet.

loveflower, first you ought to make sure you're eating a balanced diet and getting everything you need. i'd also reccommend asking your mom if her periods were ever irregular. for the longest time i just assumed something was wrong with me because mine were never regular.....turns out my mom, aunt, and grandmother are/were all the same way.

Wow I never realized how many people have period problems. Has anyone been to the "lady doctor" for it?

My period still hasn't appeared (I keep thinking it's on its way but it never comes, lol!), and I'm beginning to get worried.....haven't had one since early feb. I posted on this thread earlier that it might have something to do with running as much as I do. Is this a possibility, and if so, is this a bad thing?

Not having enough fat on your body can stop u getting a period. As well as exercising to the point where you have hardly any body fat, people who are underweight and that have anorexia type eating disorders will stop getting their periods, it is not healthy being so underweight. Are you underweight? Normal weight?
