I have the 'Live in Europe' album with the guy smashing the ice cream cone on his head, but it wasn't the type of music that I wanted from the Grateful Dead. A couple years ago on the radio, they played the Grateful Dead from 1967 and they were doing more psychedelic/rock music instead of their later bluegrassesque sound. What album(s) should I get for that style?
Try "The Grateful Dead" its a self titled album from '67 i think. Also try "AOXOMOXOA" that ones good and psychedelic. By the way, don't get rid of Europe '72, You'll love it someday.
Listen to their album LIVE/DEAD from 1969 with a wonderful 23 minutes version of the legendary tune DARK STAR When you really get into it and then later when the tune is over you're not sure: was it 23 minutes... 23 hours... or 23 days
i recoemdn starting with the beggining and moving your way up. the dead will grow on u untill u are head over heals in love with the noise they produce.
fillmore 1969 box set, i don't own the actually box set since i have the original SBDs but i highly reccommend these shows. ~forever grateful~ ~forever dancing~
