Well I would say cheak out the volcano Arenal and Tamarindo (my surf town).
Those are two of the biggest places here. I haven't been in San Jose longer than a night, but I wouldn't recomend staying there for too long. A day or too is fine but there are other places you would probally want to go. Plus if you come to Tam you can surf with me. You don't need to know how to surf to surf in Tamarindo. People come here to learn how to surf a lot.

I would get out of San Jose as quickly as possible. Arenal would be a good place to start.

Im so excited, im going in March. Heres the stuff im gonna be doing, they all sound like tons of fun, so maybee you should use them as ideas as stuff you would like to do: travel to Arinal via Poas Volcano, Lake Arenal kayaking tour, La Fortuna Waterfalls visit, travel to Monteverde, school visit, canopy tour(rainforest), Monteverde Cloud Forest guided visit, horseback ride, Frog Pond vist, Jaco Beach, Manuel Antonio Nat. Park, San Jose, Sarchi (whatever that means?). So maybee you should check those out and maybe do some? They sound like a blast!

San Jose is definitely not the place to be. Any of the nearby beaches will do quite nicely!
