Where do you think the soul is located? I think it's in the brain, in the pineal gland. http://www.islandcrisis.net/location-of-the-human-soul/
I think the root of my soul is in my consciousness,in my mind, but I think it also extends into my body which also thinks and feels.I don't think the soul is a mysterious thing.I think I have one when I'm alive, but I don't know what happens after death.I think the soul can be enlivened but also depressed by externals.I think it is intimately linked to happiness.
^^^This. The "soul" doesn't exist, in the traditional, religious sense. I posted this in another thread and thought it would be appropriate to quote it here:
The soul is not a physical thing so it is not located anywhere in your body. The brain is as correct as it gets cause all abstract concepts are constructed by the mind.
I asked this because on several occasions, I've had what I guess I'd call out of body experiences. I felt like I was only my brain (soul) and disconnected from my entire body.
Consciousness is the soul. the part of you that if you sit here and take a deep breathe in and out a time or two and be counting and listening to your breathe- the part of you that is doing that ... that is watching yourself do that in a way... is the soul.
Granted, it sounds pretty. Soul is just too religious a word for me to accept. I prefer the secular concept of mind.
Well, what I described as the "soul" it's location is "the mind".... so it is the mind, but it's not all of the mind- it's the part of the mind that is consciousness-feeling, doing, acting... where is that located at in the brain again? Anyways, I like the word "consciousness" actually compared to both soul and mind.
